Contrast on soul fire

i use an QD-oled monitor (aw3423dwf) i play with the brightness configured as per the guide and the game looks absolutely fantastic

my one problem is the flamer weapons, the contrast is blinding, the flamer is bad but tolerable but the psyker soul fire? its unbearable it makes it literally impossible to see anything

is there any chance we could get some options to turn down just how offensive that blue flame is? opacity maybe or just its contrast and blindy nature in general?

as it stands i have the option of either make the game look ugly which im not prepared to do , or just leave any game where i find a psyker using that staff.

I have the same monitor and it doesn’t really bother me, it looks awesome imo

Are you using 400True black (it’s what I use) or the 1000 in the monitor settings?

ive used all right now im using a custom colour setting i like , haven’t noticed much difference with how much to object to the blue flames , none of them make it bearable to me

for the color I use creator

I think there is a mod for it though to neuter flame effects or you can change them to some other color

Not available in HDR mode (I’m on DW model) is that enabled for you on DWF? .

its funny how they narrowed the effect for the psyker shooting it
but not for everyone else

Yes I have the DWF and the recommended setting for color is creator.

People have been asking for more transparency on fire effects for a long time… Or lower contrast, in your case. The mod Custom Flames doesn’t allow for this though.

Right as do I, in SDR mode.
On DW, when you switch to HDR, Creator is no longer available as a preset, it’s disabled in the OSD. It defaults to Standard on HDR, I’m guessing Creator doesn’t make sense in the HDR context.
I assumed it was the same in DWF in the OSD menu?

I’ll check it later and get some pictures!

I think this has been needed since launch really, and it’s not a hardware-specific issue. Soulblaze and especially the Inferno staff tend to completely obscure the team’s vision. I feel like the simplest solution is just increasing the transparency of soulblaze and maybe reducing a bloom slightly. Flamer usually doesn’t bother me though, so that probably only needs minor tweaking if anything.

inferno staff should shoot a narrower beam that only blooms into flames when it hits a target.

just played baross at night with a flamer + soulblaze psyker on my team, and while the psyker was doing decent damage, the game was absolutely a test of patience for me. blue flames in my face all the time, without any karkin break, blue burning enemies and barely anything visible in the darkness. got stuck 2 times on boxes because i couldn’t see them.

that’s why i play only electro staff and maybe trauma, and gun psyker. perhaps i’ll leave the next lobby with an inferno + blaze psyker, it’s not their fault but simply that awful visual clutter.
