I think having the ability to customize our weapons with attachments is the sort of thing Darktide is missing. I’d love to see an oversized flashlight attachment for the bolter. The thing would be a spotlight.
I’m keeping this post short and sweet because I doubt Fatshark would ever do this, but if they were to take it seriously, then I’d reference Call of Duty BOIII’s zombies system. You’d unlock weapons, level those guns up, and get new attachments, which were sights, extended mag, fast mag, stocks, etc.
Having that, but with a 40k flavor would be great fun.
Staying true to the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40k universe is paramount, and I’m all for it.
However, the suggestion wasn’t to turn Darktide into Call of Duty, but rather to draw inspiration from its mechanics to enhance the gameplay experience within the Warhammer 40k universe. Customization and progression systems are common in many games and can add depth without compromising the core identity. It’s all about finding the balance between innovation and honoring the source material.
It’s genuinely disheartening to witness such a dismissive attitude from the developers towards the potential for a more engaging weapon system. It seems they may be overlooking an opportunity to deepen player immersion and satisfaction within the game. This response isn’t entirely unexpected, given their apparent fondness for RNG mechanics.
“We teased a weapon customisation, we even did some work towards it, but we got overwhelmed by all the issues during the game dev, so now our CM responses are going to be used as memes for years to come.”
