Congratulations, Fatshark. You did it. You broke me. I'm done

i feel u bro imo there is no need to be any lvls for blessings same for perks (this whole craft system i wish i can call it “craft system” it should be reworked!!!)

Welcome to the battle #475

Added you as well #476

It’s an enchanting system. It’s not a crafting system.

Quitting Darktide is easy. I did it dozens of times!
Admitting and fixing this nonsense of crafting system - is impossible task. They are to arrogant to admit that it sucks beyond reason.

One could even say that it is “immeasurably complex!”

Too soon?

Fatshark’s defense of this so-called “crafting system” is ridiculous at this point.

We even have a big post on the forums with so many replies and names added to the do “do not like how crafting is currently working” list.

Do yourself a favor, Fatshark, and just admit that you are wrong instead of roleplaying The Simpsons’ “no, it is the children who are wrong” - meme.

No such thing :money_mouth_face:

Break the locks!

Oh that is FAR too charitable. I contend that crafting feels more like an ant pushing a brick across a desert.

Don’t get me wrong - I hate this crafting system - but the sooner you realise tier IV anything isn’t necessary the sooner you can get back to just enjoying the game.

I know for some people loot-chasing is the main driver behind playing a game like this and that REALLY sucks if you’re playing Tide games because it’s all about grinding when it comes to loot.

Come on.

Back when I started playing VT2 and leveling was super slow, I got told Commendation chests have a chance for reds. I had dozens of them plus all the champ chests saved when I was finally level 30 with one character. I got four reds out of those. Three Blunderbusses and a Mace.

I started playing Legend and never felt like Iam grinding for gear. When I got a new red, which was everything but uncommon, I gave it a swing. When leveling a new hero, all I needed to do was get one weapon to orange, put a Trait on it and not feel like getting held back by my equipment. Trying out other Traits plus weapon combinations still is affordable for anyone at any stage of the game.

After roughly 300h of VT2 I was swimming in dust and reds. Did I stop, because I had all I needed? No. I played another 2k hours and loved the item generation, and fashion modded offered.

In DT you get jack in comparison. After 1k hours I still cant test Blessing plus Weapon combinations I would like to give a spin. I still cant just upgrade weapons for the heck of it and fiddle around until I like how they play. I still am nowhere near being happy with any of my weapons. I dont have a glimmer of hope that the end of mission rewards will hand me a new toy to play with like VT2 did.

I would have probably made a post about DTs reward structure a long time ago, if granting three times the steel, ordo, and dia would change anything, but it really would not. Auric modifiers are atleast as hard as many of VT2s deeds, which gave you up to three times the loot a normal mission did. One in eight legend vaults hands you a red item, which at the time seemed absolutely horrible to me, since it mostly was pieces you did not need. So you needed like 40 of them to craft what you want. 40 missions in Darktide is something like 2.5kk Ordo. I rolled more than that into Bolters and still dont have one Iam happy with. And even if I would be, it is just one patch away from getting kraked by Blessing changes.

Btw. Remember the three times the loot thing and deeds? 40 legend vaults is like 14 deed missions. Not 40.

Sure. Vermintide 2 has an annoying crafting system, but there is no way you can compare that to Darktide. Comparing VT2s and DTs gearing is like comparing your gaming chair to a Gray Knights Battle Cruiser.

VT2’s crafting system was just as terrible as Darktides at launch. It improved A LOT when they finally updated it, but until then it was terrible. And don’t get me started on VT1 - what a shitshow that loot system was.

Darktide’s crafting system is terrible. Plain and simple. Spend pixel currency for brick gear then farm for more pixel currency. Grind, grind, grind then hope and pray to RNJesus.

I hope they eventually update it, because it gets more and more frustrating the more weapons they release.

Edit: My point stands though. You don’t NEED tier IV blessings on everything and grinding for it is a waste of time.

well said

at launch? both v1 and v2 HAD a system at launch, and yes they are bad, but explain to me how they were “updated” all they did was adding reds, and adjust some drop numbers, the system itself is exactly what it was.

darktide can’t just add reds and tingle with some dropnumbers, it would remain a pile of junk,
you’d still need to grind out the blessings and spend an ungodly amount in unserviceable menu’s.

v1 had the best gear progression because you were guaranteed to reach the end at some point to never engage with it again
v2 had the second best because probability would ensure you end up with most" reds in due time
so you no longer have to engage with (much")
DT has the worst, until they update the system, but i doubt it would solve any problem, considering they heaven’t learned a thing from previous titles, where they also failed to create a system that feels good.

all the out of combat systems, that Fatshark creates are hot piles of junk.
a crafting system makes sense to limit acess, and introduce more playstyles for players slowly so they can learn the ropes before jumping to the next.
what doesn’t make sense is to gatekeep players from new playstyles behind RNG-generators as in DT and repeatedly slamming a button where the only limitation is the ammount of time you’re willing to click on it in v2 an v1. feels like its only one step away from “throw in a coin to get your result”.

all these dumb systems without purpose other than timewaste.
as an developer ask yourself, whats the purpose and what do they add?
if the only awnser is “player retention” throw it out, it does the opposite.

But on the flip side there’s the person who got both breakpoints on a single hammer who’d be pissed if they changed the crafting.

Hope I get him on my next team

If anyone else is lurking and can’t stand the gear system but feels the community has already said enough about it, please do go ahead and post! Fatshark seems to be under the impression that there is a huge majority of people that are quietly loving the crafting system.
