5000 players playing in a coop game is essentially a dead game, considering, europe asia NA, are included in those numbers, the NA severs probably have 2000 players all split within EUS WUS etc i can imagine its already hard to find a match
5000 player atm, most if not all of Europe is currently working, the peak usually happen in 3-5 hours when Europe is out of offices
Welp, I did my part for a few rounds yesterday. Kind of where I am with the game, I just quickplay Uprising once or twice in between baby naps.
i doubt it, 10 reviews mostly neg that says something but 50k reviews mixed… that looks like something else.
if it was some unknown indie coming out of nowhere and needing exposure sure it could easily have an impact. but this doesnt need exposure anyone whose into 4 play co ops has had this on thier radar for a year or more.
the bad state of all the extrinsic systems and the pacing of the end of missions is what will cost it sales !
They’re even below Vermintide 2 in current player count… What did they even expect releasing an unfinished product like that ?
There’s no crafting
The servers are lackluster to say the least
No careers
Very few maps
No shared inventories, shared weeklies
No weapon customization (even though all range weapons practically have the rails ready xD)
I’m so desperate for something new that I’m even regularly checking the premium store for new cosmetics !
And most of all no communication at all from their side.
I think they have a very commited, good and patient community (I know I’ve waited so darn long for this game) and they’re just swcrewing it while simply posting a roadmap of some sort, acknowledging player feedback would already go a very long way.
All of this because some guy at marketing had a hard on for the letters “GaaS” and made everything change mid-development.
They are having meetings about this. Wall to wall.
I hope that they are, but the issues the community wants fixed is hardly rocket science. They could assign the FS management the homework task of spending 2 hours scanning forum posts where there has been a veritable flood of constructive criticism over the last two months identifying the problems with the game.
If FS is at all confused about what people are upset about then I don’t even know what to say.
Here’s my analogy at this point:
Customer: I ordered a hamburger medium-well. It’s actually not even cooked at all. It’s raw meat.
Fatshark: You don’t like your hamburger? What’s wrong with it?
Customer: Have you even looked at it? It is raw. Totally uncooked. You put raw meat between the bread. It’s not cooked AT ALL.
Fatshark: We will bring it back to the kitchen and let the cooks know. We will get back to you this week at the earliest.
People here seem to be negative because they are uninformed, and they are uninformed because they are not on Discord, so let me fill you in:
They unambiguously and clearly announced in Discord that a statement may or may not be coming next week or so.
There.
In the future, please don’t make baseless assumptions without knowing all the facts.
No, they desperately need content. Expecting players to play the same maps without mission variety is a massive issue. The loop can keep interest, but if you do the same thing in the same place over and over with no chance to change it up, people going to stop playing.
Playable content and bug fixes. That’s literally it. Maybe rewards a little bit more often. That’s all. Everything else can be considered later.
Funny the may or may not… I am reassured
I suppose the cm doesn’t knows there is a forum.
The patch notes will be on discord too?
Next week has been since 4 weeks… This reminds me the story we have, in my country, of the barber that has an announcement, on his door of the office, “Tomorrow we shave for free”. One guy come the next day and ask to be shaved. At the end, he thinks he will be able to leave but the barber asks him to get paid. Then he says that there was an announcement that said it was free today. The barber replies him that it will be tomorrow…
Somebody may argue that the best way of communication as a Company would be to communicate on their own platform in a comprehensive and trackable way. Like an extra section in the Forum for Announcements and Communication.
But hey this is just one of the underlying issues that brought us here in the first place. Another good example of this is the exact time window of “next week or so”.
I agree to an extent.
With Vermintide 2, a lot of people blasted through all the missions on a mid-level difficulty and was like “That’s it?”
I’d argue this genre has a decent chunk of its players that will buy the game, blast through everything in maybe 20-30 hours, have a good time, and move on.
Fact of the matter is that FS can’t produce content fast enough to keep this group engaged. And I don’t really think they should be trying to.
The people get heavily into this genre and play 100’s or 1000’s of hours do so for some combination of:
(A) wanting to challenge themselves at higher difficulties,
(B) grinding towards long-term predicable goals and awards (e.g. cosmetics, maybe certain gear options),
(C) achievement hunting
(D) deep satisfaction with the “feel” of the gameplay purely for its own thrill, immersion and enjoyment factor;
(E) keeping things fresh by being able to experiment with different builds and playstyles.
Having new maps and content is great, but you’ll never make it fast enough to keep casual players plugged in. If you can hook some amount of casual players with A - E in my list, and of course keep your hardcore players happy, the game can grow through word of mouth (i.e. see Deep Rock Galactic, Payday 2) and positive community.
The problem is that very few systems in Darktide right now support A - E. So not only are we losing the inevitable casual players, we’re not retaining the hardcore players or converting casuals to hardcore.
I would add, take fun by testing weapons / feat and replay missions.
Thats what I want… Love the gameplay.
But I need crafting…
Yeah exactly - that was the idea with point E, experimenting with different weapons, blessings, feats, etc. Which we can’t do at all right now because crafting is only 30% implemented.
How many of those concurrent players just log on, check shop with their characters nd log off? Awful shop mechanics might be inflating player figures.
As intended.
I will say - I’ve been trying to get some Heresy games going in the past couple of days and I haven’t been able to fill a lobby. Always ended up with a bot which makes things hard. Not a good sign.
Player count would be much higher if we could actually connect and stay connected… RIP.
STOP BUYING UNFINISHED GAMES.
Your message implies you bought it too, why you speak to others?
Sorry, you got me all wrong. They didn’t have enough at release. Each mission should have been playable across all the maps at release.
