Community Comm-Link 16th February 2023

They are putting lipstick on a truly hateful system, in the hopes that people will be tricked into thinking it’s somehow good now. The malice and gaslighting on display is astounding.

This is not what the players want. Why can’t you get rid of the trash crafting system? Don’t you guys want us as customers? Can we please get an answer to why all these bad things are still going forward despite the overwhelmingly negative feedback?

Edit:
@Aqshy can you tell us what is happening since our CM gives us no insight and is gaslighting on our feedback? Why are we seeing this same communication week after week even though the player numbers and review scores are dropping? What is happening with the company, I’m seriously concerned.

in the previous comm-link you mentioned something about getting a guaranteed item (emperor’s gift) at the end of every (successfully) finished mission and that its rating will scale based on difficulty and the objectives (modifiers / side missions / boss kills etc).
Is this coming next patch or later?

So to recap:

-as a positive I’m glad that we are getting more crafting resources considering both current and future drain on whatever system is implemented. This would be a step in the right direction

-emotes are fun, that’s cool

-while I’m glad that the mission board is getting more missions I still dislike the system as a whole and wish it was a simple pick a mission and play system. Sorry every other game under the sun does this and there is no reason to not do it.

-More XP and Dockets, yay? I have every character currently in the game to 30 so this is mostly a meaningless change for me and dockets in the hundreds of thousands on the different characters. There also really isn’t a sink for them at the moment so unless rolling gray tier weapons is going to be that bad I don’t see needing them. Even then crafting materials will probably still be the bottleneck.

-being able to pick a weapon is nice wish we had that on launch but whatever, we got it coming now.

-I wish I could get excited about the blessings system but this is exactly how i was worried it was going to work and while it’s good we are getting something I’m not thrilled that there is no word on blessings being account wide or not. There also isn’t an option to upgrade the blessings without, well, finding it first which again I guarantee will still result in RNG making that a 500 hour grind.

-Still no word on shared anything across characters which is leading me to assume that idea is dead in the water and anything you earn on a character is stuck on that character and that character only, how fantastic, I’m so glad FS is hard committed to this for some odd reason.

I’m really not getting my hopes up for anything really.

Yeah @FatsharkCatfish why are these changes going forward when you have clear feedback (and even simple common sense) telling you that it will drive away your few remaining players? What in nurgle’s name is going on over there?

“We’ve listened to your feedback and will keep it in mind as we completely and utterly ignore it.”

I mean, it’s like they employed a new CM just to troll us.

And f*cking emotes. Are you seriously sh!tting me. You could have focused on absolutely anything else and this is where you’re at.

I know it’s to lay the groundwork for arseholey paid emotes but by Sigmars Hairy Beanbag could you have picked anything from the overwhelming deluge of feedback about perks and blessing to work on?

just give us the rest of the crafting system please, i am tired of having good weapons get bricked with blessings they cant make use of.

Fatshark really are most excellent at the whole, “I expected nothing and I’m still disappointed,” school of community engagement.

Why are you pretending that you are listening to feedback? You won’t change the restrictive crafting system which everyone has told you is terrible. It is worse than than Vermintide 2’s crafting system, so your games are literally regressing in features.

Sorry but they said

The important word is “constructive

The entire forum is full of constructive feedback explaining how almost every design decision in this game is terrible. Hence the mostly negative reviews.

Once again, thank you for absolutely nothing of worth.

Starting today, I will just go ahead and keep posting the following reddit comment (from the VT sub) from 4 years ago that I was recently made aware of.

Enjoy:

There is lot of people that are repeating every time they can how they dislike (hate) this system.
They don’t want to understand that Fatshark made their choice for the game.
And so, they have not proposed anything else than bashing the game

By this time, they have just hurt the game and impacted all constructive threads about crafting with their complains.
Sorry, but someone had to say the truth

Please will you listen to feedback?

  1. Shared resources, weapons, curios for all characters.
  2. Remove crafting locks.

Have some basic respect for your players’ time, you have a great game here, but the excessive grinding makes it completely unpleasant to progress. You are killing the game.

There are people really invested in the numbers and have taken the time to give very very consise and wide ranging feedback on exactly what’s wrong with the perks and blessings and how to fix it, from quick band aid solutions to long term more deep seated proposals.

All of which have been pretty much volleyed into the toilet. FS want their RNG locked blessings and screw the consumers, it’s simple as that. Once sensible suggestions get ignored people tend to turn to sarcasm, snippy comments, and a less reasonable approach as their frustrations at the product they’ve paid for being frankly crap overtake their willingness to be constructive with people who clearly aren’t listening.

All I can do is vote with my playtime and negative review I guess. Steam will track those metrics. The less people who have it installed and play it will push more for change. They will probably push this out to see the difference it causes, but if it doesn’t generate the interest and player numbers they want, they may take more of our feedback seriously.

To get me to come back I would need:
1.) Shared resources across characters
2.) A mission board where you pick difficulty (like in Vermintide 2 quick play should give you more bonuses than picking missions)
3.) +++++A FAIR WAY (in terms of time and grind) TO GET SPECIFIC MAXIMUM TIER/VALUE CURIOS AND WEAPONS++++
4.) Change player name and height (especially since height affects what cover you can use and shoot over) without needing to delete your character.

To be fair there is only so many different ways you can say “I hate this system” to get the point across while remaining constructive.

This was like with Diablo 3 with people going “I hate the auction house” and blizzard not doing anything till the player count fell off a cliff which only returned when they did major overhauls to their systems.

People suggested removing locks, people suggested shared resources, people suggested ways to mitigate the rng hell but it apparently fell on deaf ears because they are dead set on keeping a system that a lot of people hate and when people don’t hate the system they simply tolerate it because it’s the only thing there.

10 more ideas towards Gear customization sandbox (without gutting the system)

  1. Let us switch the locked perk for for 1K plasteel and 500 diamantine for blessing. BOOM, high level material sink (the above numbers take like 3 damnations to farm up).

  2. To REALLY add customizing excitement to re-bless, you should be able to slap (almost) any blessing on any weapon for REAL mix and match. For fun (even if sub optimal) combos like infernus lawbringer for incendiary shells! or attack speed blessing on a kantrael, or giving use for all these shredder autopistol blessing that’d go great on the braced autos. So now every weapon you get could be moore interesribg exciting because you’re mixing and matching to make your weapon unique from the peices of less desireable weapons! Cobbling together YOUR ultimate blessed weapon

  3. Add a siphon modifier system way that would let us spend diamantine to siphon any % from one modifier to another, capping at 200%, the base rating would not change but you could make a braced LMG by siphoning Mobility, stability and mayb stopping power into Ammo and damage. The rumored Red weapons would still be good in that scenario as they’d theoretically can have a higher base rating mod, ergo better siphon sticks.

  4. Please continue, but more aggressively so, buffing the bad and non practically noticeable blessings, feats etc. to get us really mixin and matchin :sunglasses:. Example, if speedload T4 was a 60%% buff [15% per tier] and (in combo with other build options) allowed a ‘reload breakpoint’ where you insta reload with some golden blessed light animation! (Like sustain fire).
YES that’s crazy but with all this RNG we gotta have crazy rewards to chase for or wither off like many have. Go BIG or Go Home!

5-10 Please merge our 5 character resources pools per account.

“When you surrender a weapon to Hadron, you will receive the Blessing from that weapon at its current tier. To get higher blessing tiers, you will need to find weapons with an improved tier on them and surrender those weapons to Hadron.”

Good to see FS doubling - no, at least tripling or quadrupling - down on this terrible RNG fest. This patch will mitigate the RNG but it’s still pure RNG, you’re just rolling the dice more. Locking blessings and perks just makes this worse.

Remember the last communique talking about this where you said the idea was to “encourage experimentation?” Punishing and tedious systems like this are literally how you discourage experimentation. How to encourage experimentation is simple; let people experiment. Give us the Athenor but for DT, ideally. But failing that, let them reroll stuff as they please (or, god forbid, actually do some kind of targeted crafting).

Checked this morning and both “currently online” and 24-hour peak player counts are below VT2, a 5 year old game. It’s time to make real positive changes, not stick to your dumb guns in the hopes of increasing player retention or whatever other asinine idea FS or Level Infinite has about how this game’s monetization is totally gonna work out. Because this stuff is driving even hardcore fans like me and my friend group away, people who put over 1,000 hours into VT2, and I’m the only one left playing DT of us, and I’m winding down.
