Combat axes

Would love to see Slaughterer blessing on combat axe, or it should at least receive some damage improvements as it already lacks the cleave.

I miss the days when limbsplitter had no cool down and could split limbs on contact!

As of today combat axes are getting rarer to be used by players since other weapons received improvements.

Thanks.

I think it fell to the wayside more for being boring and played out for a lot of people. They’re still really good and most of my weapon specialist load outs use it…with Thrust and Brutal Momentum. There’s enough in Veteran and Zealot’s melee tree to give you one shots on all trash. Veteran has a lot of ways to stack weakpoint and elite damage to 3 shot Crushers with it while staggering them.

But that Achlys axe, man I can not get behind that. Maybe if it had the special poke instead of the uppercut…

Just use Brutal Momentum + whatever you fancy. Combat axes don’t need more power.

Achyls is a mess man… Why is the heavy chain MUCH slower than the other 2 despite everything about it screaming it’s the single target focused one? Why does heavy 1, the move that looks like it should be an option for groups have 0 cleave and also a bad single target damage profile at the same time? That axe might be my number 1 candidate for a melee weapon that needs help.

Yeah the other 2 are fine though. OP why do you want slaughterer for it when it already has head taker that is arguably just better slaughterer in practice?

Was wondering the same thing.
How would this one

“save” the combat axes, when they already have access to these two below?

I’ve used this on my Vet for about … ooh, maybe 9 months.

Not lacking in killing ability. So much so that I’ve other Antax’s with similar specs and just never bothered crafting on them. Arguably Shred is maybe less good than others, but 20% crit chance on each swing is not to be sniffed at. And the Antax has an incredibly easy attack pattern on both lights and heavy, so you don’t have to think hard when using it.

It’s funny because Headtaker is ultimately the better one. You can full-stack it on monsters and unyielding enemies with ease, where as a low-enemy-density environment punishes Slaughterer.

25% power at all times in combat vs potentially 40% power but only if you made the last hit in 4,5 seconds.

and it is not… as explained a lot of times.
You can get several stacks of decimator in one swing and it is +50% against +25%. Of course, you need to not miss any hit, but why would you in middle of an horde?

Back on topic, CA don’t need any buff. But they need a correction about maniac damages… This is a non sense to see heavy hit doing less damages than a light attack.

I’m comparing Headtaker to Slaughterer. Maybe should have made that clear.

lol, did not see it was you… you fooled me with your avatar

Slaughterer is for hordes or mass of enemies. I do not like it, and it is totally uneeded on a combat axe with the current blessing pool. Already 6 different blessings to increase damages…

Wait is that still the case? I vaguely remember checking the buff indicator after patch 13 and seeing it only increase one at a time even hitting multiple enemies but I may be getting it confused with shred or something else. Regardless, the point was that Caxe isn’t short on power blessings, more reliable ones than slaughterer no less, so adding that to the pool would just be adding a dead blessing option which really doesn’t do anything for Caxe. And again questionable that the non Achyls versions need anything. Rashad and Antax are still very flexible, relatively mobile options that can be good in any of the human class’ arsenal. I think you don’t see them run as often these days mostly because people got tired of them and we aren’t lacking strong alternatives anymore.

Achlys are pure garbage…
Before they patch them, they could not even hit 2 enemies… the axe was magically stopped once it was hitting anything.
But even patched, this axe doesn’t work.

Well, maybe I missed it but even here I don’t see anything in patch notes. But, I must say that I play dagger for more than 2 months (veteran and zealot)… at least when I play DT. So could have missed that.
