Arbites Shock Maul make the Comat Axe pointless

Better light attacks, better heavies, much much better special, can actually cleave without the need to use up a blessing slot, better heavy stagger against everything except carapace.

Are the combat axes doomed to be a meme weapon? the combat axes are out classed by too many weapons, they should deal more damage since they are slower than the other weapons, also they lack cleave unless you take brutal momentum.

Most classes can’t use the arbiter shock maul.

its just as strong as vet power sword, has more impact, and the special attacks don’t need an activation animation and still cleave trough crushers with no cleave perks spent on the talent tree

this is what the power maul should have been but we didn’t get

I like variety so ill take every melee weapon i can get and combat axe is up there much better at 1shoting most trash…I just wish we had CHAIN AXE

oh and it doesn’t slow you down as if you were moving inside a honey jar when attacking like with power sword mk6

Then remove the combat axes as an option for the arbites, they are inferior.

Indeed. I used the axe a lot in the past and the arbitrator shock maul is much better. I think the main reason is that the axe needs brutal momentum to handle a lot of situations, but the shock maul does not and is free to run other blessing like execution and thunderous.

Yah…combat axe with my middle tree build 2 shots a Crusher with fast heavy attacks

…the combat shotgun is surprisingly good for Arbites…probably everything is like the Ogryn treatment.

Combat axe is an easier to use weapon, so it’s not pointless.

this is easily my favorite melee he has…just like the Branx pickaxe the weave into that special is so great off most moves, and it replaces the light attack in sequence when you do it instead of being its own move (though the ‘pull’ debuff from pickaxes is pretty strong and universal damage).

I think the issue is more that combat axe has no notable boosts to its cleave, so even the giant +75% cleave indulgence (is that what fat shark is calling them now? nodes) and +25% cleave modifier won’t get you into the range of being able to cleave a bruiser or hit more than 2 poxwalker/groaners. those same buffs + all or nothing make the arbites maul insane on crowds, especially with the giant raycast of those push attacks and follow up heavies (this tiny baton has swings nearing ogryn’s shovel territory). but having some more hitmass is apparently the difference of the tactical axe, so they kinda boxed themselves in a corner design wise.

Brutal Momentum gives you all the cleave it needs IMO

Share the build please

Gives more than enough cleave, but takes a blessing slot, less build flexibility if everyone takes the mandatory cleave blessing

Combat axe seems like it’d better fit the stagger playstyle tbh, maybe try building it around that.

Then pick blessings with strenght or power, should fill the same role

Probably a lot of ways you could do it, MKIII Axe getting your melee keystone up and keeping buffs up easier with a crit and crits often or guess could go thrust for slower but consistent 2shots.

Have you seen the axe’s boss damage on arby? It is absurd, way over the arbities shock maul.
(if you build it right)

and ogryn still doesn’t have a paul at this level. despite being able to swing 2 shock maul wielding arbitrators .

And let’s hope FS keep it that way.

I beg to disagree, the axe only uses stagger as a base, the maul and shield use both stagger and shock as a base.

Only problem with combar axes is their slow attack speed, they only useful on Zealot who got better options and Veteran with WS keystone. Arbites can take if they have lone wolf and need boss damage, combat axe does better boss damage than any shock maul.
