Please give the combat axe a target cap of 4 baseline so I can put a real blessing on the 2nd slot.
There are few more heartwarming sights than a Vet, axe held high overhead, running straight at a group of Elites.
But I kinda like that the current state of the axe makes Brutal Momentum de rigueur. Itâs a flavorful, fitting way to give them anti-horde capability.
But Brutal Momentum is a real blessing, its a big game changer for axeâŚback in my day⌠we only had 1 blessing and it was always swift slaying or perfect block for the pros.
⌠I suppose i could go without BM and rely more on range/nades to handle horde.
Arbites shock maul doesnât hold a candle to the normal shock maul.

Literally every weapon in the game after 2024 can hit at least 3 targets baseline. Combat Axe is the only weapon still living 2023. The +15% weakspot damage basically might as well read +5% general damage, which makes the blessing nothing more than a tax for horde clear, and frankly not even a good one given it doesnât even work without a killing swing.

Not when itâs been a problem for other weapons, especially for ogrynâs power maul for 2 and a half years. Itâs not only pushing the button, but also the animation lock, the random movement speed decrease, the random deactivation when being hit, the arbitary charged state timer and everything else that is jank with almost every activation-type weapon special in the game.
But isnât that server side, not the skill itâs self? Same issue when you want to reload a ranged weapon, or throwing grenades/mines.
No, there are two issues; the one youâre thinking of is when you press the button and does the animation but it doesnât take effect, thereâs another one where the effect ends prematurely if you get hit.

In the past, the combat axe was really goodâthere were even a few people crying for it to get nerfed. I remember it was one of my favorite weapons after they killed the hammers. But since the class rework, itâs become a bit obsolete. Though, with the Decapitator perk and a crit build on the Zealot, itâs somewhat usable again. Maybe if it had more cleave or some kind of AoE attack, it could be good again, at least for horde clearing.
Combat axe with Brutal momentum and Headtaker is still incredible, it only falls off in Havoc once you reach the point that you canât 1 shot dudes any more.

You mean to tell me Combat Axe is outclassed by a weapon that has access to +45% damage in near perpetuity from two Blessings alone, thanks in large part to how the Arbites Concussive Talent interacts with them?

Also the special attack deals Electrocution DoTs and they stack very quickly.
Absolutely not, I think they focused on releasing the DLC for the summer steam sales and before summer holidays and changing existing activating mauls didnât fit in that timeline.

I really do not understand how the axe is great, it is for sure not the worst weapon, not even close, but it could use a buff.
For me I would love to see a remake that focuses on making it what (I believe) it should be, a single target high damage dealer, with good armor pen and medium-high stagger, brutal momentum totally changes the weapon, making it a horde destroyer, I think brutal momentum should be removed, or targets reduced from 3 to 1.
Also for the record, no one uses the axes, almost never, I rarely see them in auric maelstroms, I never see them Havoc, so what do you mean it is fine? do you mean it is possible to clear high difficulty missions with it? if so, you can do that with anything if you are good enough, you will struggle more with many weapons, but itâs possible, I guess all weapons are fine exactly how they are now if a good player can win with them.
