Client Crashes on Startup

Hello, I recently purchased the game and have been having issues with getting the game to launch without crashing. I am able to get past the initial screen that asks me to launch either the regular game or the modded game. Next comes a black screen as if the game is going to launch and then it crashes. Below is the information that I have from the crash log:

From your crash report I can see there appears to be an issue selecting which GPU/display adapter to use when launching Vermintide 2.

Please try the following -

• Perform a clean re-installation of your GPU drivers using the appropriate instructions below:

  • https://support.fatshark.se/hc/en-us/articles/360021233554--PC-How-to-perform-a-clean-re-installation-of-your-NVIDIA-GPU-drivers

• Ensure both Steam and Vermintide 2 are set to use your dedicated GPU within the NVIDIA Control Panel by:

  1. Right-click the desktop and select the ‘NVIDIA Control Panel’
  2. Navigate to ‘Manage 3D Settings’ > ‘Program Settings’
  3. Locate Steam within the list of programs
  4. Within the ‘Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:’ dropdown, choose the NVIDIA GPU
  5. Then locate Vermintide 2 within the list of programs, and repeat the above step
  6. Right-click the desktop and select ‘Radeon Settings’
  7. Navigate to ‘Preferences’ > ‘Additional Settings’ > ‘Power’ > ‘Switchable Graphics’ > ‘Application Settings’
  8. Locate Steam within the list of programs
  9. In the ‘Graphics Settings’ column, assign the ‘High Performance’ profile
  10. Then locate Vermintide 2 within the list of programs, and repeat the above step

• For Windows 10 users:

  1. Navigate to ‘Settings’ > ‘System’ > ‘Display’
  2. Select ‘Graphics Settings’
  3. Select the ‘Browse’ button and locate the appropriate executable:
  • Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\binaries
  4. Select the ‘Options’ button
  5. Choose ‘High performance’ and save your changes

Failing this, please check that your user_settings.config file has your adapter setting set to “0”. To do so:

1. Press the Windows key + R
2. Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
3. Navigate to AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Vermintide 2
4. Open your user_settings.config file
5. Find the setting named adapter_index
6. Change this setting value to adapter_index = 0
7. Save your user_settings.config file
8. Launch Vermintide 2 as usual
