This might’ve been mentioned before, I did a search and didn’t see anything, so just thought I’d make a post.
I was playing a shroudfield zealot in a havoc game, and a Chaos Spawn grabbed one of my teammates, and started munching on his head. The spawn’s back was to me, and I was far enough away to not trigger it’s AoE ground pound move, so I charged and cast shroudfield, only right before hitting it, the spawn did a very fast 180 and smacked the ground on top of me. I actually still hit it, but for barely any damage, as I hit a random part of its… torso area.
Not sure if this is on anyone’s radar at FS, or what they think about the interaction, but (trying to edit: not be biased), unless there’s some lore reason for Chaos Spawns sensing people, it would be nice if stealthed worked on them.
Also, while writing this I realized that perhaps the attack animation triggered right before I was stealthed. I’m not actually sure. I don’t think so, but it’s possible, just want to acknowledge that. I just have three seconds to land the hit, so I may have triggered it too late. If that’s what happened, feel free to correct me.
If this is something FS would want to look at, or people would like fixed/changed, should I make a bug report?
That seems like action queuing more than detecting invisibility. It likely had that attack already planned before you hit invis. Might have something to do with the AI of the chaos spawn not pausing while engaging in the grab move, because I’ve seen them do some nutso stuff or charge after people across the map not shooting or hitting them because that’s what they aggro’d on to when they were starting the grab animation.
It’s a known interaction that chaos spawn’s grab interruption proximity ignores stealth, whether it’s a bug or not only Fatshark can say but it’s always been in the game since stealth came into existence with patch 13.
@FatsharkQuickpaw Could you share with us to confirm if it is a bug or not?
Yeah can confirm this is a thing. Chaos spawn always senses you when it eats and you get close. Probably because that is the trigger to release your mate
This and the dog interaction are just jank inherent to the spawn. One makes an ability that’s already quite mid even worse and the other is just straight benefit from using the dog.
