Reduce the cooldown between Special Attack activations so that it’s more like Illisi’s that can “pump” up Peril. Also ditch the latching animation on Warp Charge attack, let Obscurus function like Illisi for Charged attacks. As it is right now, the Special attack is garbage. Other than that, the sword is great.
Despite the fairly recent ability to cancel the special attack by dodging, nothing much has changed since. Both Obi and Deimos suffer from this issue. I specifically crafted few Obi with pretty low warp resistance, mainly because it is mainly just a peril pump, if you don’t carry a staff, or an easily spam-able Blitz.
Obscurus special attack should be a quick warp powered armour piercing stab, and Deimos could use Illisi like slice, but this isn’t happening as it would require work: new animations, coding, testing etc.
Stationary special attacks which root you in place make no sense in the hectic combat you end up on higher difficulties. Both fs special attacks in 99% situations are just not worth using.
Obscurus and Deimos special attacks aren’t at all on the same level as the Illisi’s. Against Carapace, with the Deimos you’re better off just spamming heavy stab/light stab over and over, and with the Obscurus it’s more efficient to just… switch to your staff (unless it’s the Inferno staff).
This game has a problem with all the gimmicky special attacks that just aren’t worth using at all. The chain swords, the force swords, the staves, the heavy guns…
You can tell they’re leaning away from this 'cause all weapons released in 2024 and 2025 generally have usable or even great specials, but man… these old bastards could use a refresher
Obscurus (and maybe Deimos) could really use something like the Illisi special, except it could be a stab with improved reach and good stagger and penetration.
Making a new special attack is also much much easier and faster than coming up with a brand new weapon. Making these old weapons feel good to use should be something they prioritize. Tide games live and die by their arsenal.
Honestly if the Special attack was just spammable like Illisi for Peril pumping and they each received minor buffs to mobility or attack speed for a short period after activating special that would be perfect. Their attack patterns are already great, wouldn’t need a lot of work.
