Change "Make every shot count"

honestly this and “On Overwatch” just need to be changed. It doesn’t make it a fun challenge, and feels cheap when you finally achieve them. Trying to do MESC is just a lesson in giving up and enduring punishment. while the Ogryn, Zealot and Psyker have potentially equally difficult penances, at the very least there is a motivation to complete the mission if you don’t achieve them once (except for the psyker I guess) but these penances for the sharpshooter are way more unforgiving. If you make one mistake you have to start again, and leave a team with the impression you’re being toxic. Trying to play it “as intended” (as in fully completing mission you started) becomes a tedious waste of time when you’re only trying to get a penance sorted and the more you play that way the less engaged you become with playing it since what’s the point in completing the mission.

I may be just oversensitive but it’s actually upsetting when the best way to achieve something is by being a nuisance to others while also spending less time actually playing the game. I genuinely hope they do change this cus I don’t think I can stand being one unfair task away from completion again.

that is kinda the problem though, the only way to get it done is by finding a way to subvert the challenge itself. In your case you played the whole match without contributing in the only meaningful way a sharpshooter should be by using it overwhelming damage to quickly kill elites. you had to wait till the every end to use all your ammo on sure kills, and with players to help you .

This is probably one of the best and simplest solutions I’ve heard.

Gives the challenge they wanted, but you won’t be a detriment to your team. Once you’ve gone to zero ammo you can start picking up ammo again and do your job and as long as you are doing the challenge, you have ammo.

Sure it still promotes waiting and making sure you get your shot, which is somewhat detrimental, but that’s like a drop compared to an ocean.

Yup, pretty much. Even though those guys agreed to help, I still felt bad being only melee most of the time, pinging ranged specials that I could have killed myself, but didn’t want to risk missing and wasting everyone’s time.

+1

I can only agree. Beside the point that it forces one to play in a less beneficial way to the team, and that it’s just not that well designed. I’ve found that the vast majority of teams will outright kick me whenever I attempt to complete it. Be it because I tell them I need it, or they correctly assume I do because of the altered playstyle and behavior around ammo.

I don’t fault them for finding it frustrating that one player can’t give their all, but it’s only further proof as to the poor design.
