Ive spent a while completing veterans penances and this one is, in my opinion, borderline impossible.
90% accuracy, doesn’t sound too bad if we had an accuracy state to keep track of.
No ammo, doesn’t sound to bad once again but depending on the weapon you’ll either, run out of ammo too early and get mulched, or never run out.
On heresy or higher, this right here is the big kicker you DESPERATELY need to cooperate with your team on higher difficulties and manage ammo efficiently if you want to survive and complete the mission which you can’t because as a vet your the specialist picker you NEED ammo to be good on heresy or higher otherwise your dead weight for your team. I feel like one of these issues need to be addressed to make this specific penance easier to acquire
There’s a reason these got redacted. The starting penances were incredibly player hostile.
IDK if they patched this yet but you could, iirc, abuse disconnect/reconnect to rejoin with one shot left in your gun near the end of the match, use that shot, and stay on your melee for the remaining time.
Just a note. This penance doesn’t have to be done in a private group.
Still a royal pain since if you’re shot gets blocked by a teammate or a bulwarks shield it gets counted as a miss. And of course the best weapons for it (low ammo) also mean that any missed or blocked shots get your much closer to breaking the 10% threshold.
Personnally I don’t see why they just couldn’t have made it 90% accuracy in a mission and left the ammo part behind. 90% accuracy (much less the original 100%) is still a pain in a game that encourages/ requires head shots that also has bad hit registration and funky animations. But ObeseTubaFish just cant be bothered to actually think about what they’re doing from a players perspective.
I did it fair and square with a plasma gun, before it was redacted and it was necessary to have 100% accuracy (yes, 100%!).
It is not meant as a flex, but I can assure you, while this penance is just … wrong, it is doable.
I did it back then with the plasma gun, I will throw you a bunch of tips that helped me.
Do not pick up ammo, do not use scavenger (albeit I’ve heard, it does not keep track of ammo regenerated with the aura).
Take a low-intensity mission, they are pretty easy.
Specc your veteran towards melee combat (current middle tree).
Fire only at hordes and standing enemies, that are not aggroed. Do not spam shots. Use only charged shots, as they take more ammo. Do not tag enemies you are aiming at, as some overzealous teammates might take them out first.
Stay behind and a bit away from your team: if they run behind you, you risk that one of them will no-clip throgh you and you will hit him. It is better to keep an eye on them, as hitting a teammate might count as miss.
It took me around 3-4 attempts to get it done. You need to play very, very selfishly for that, if you can, then try to find a group willing to put up with that via Discord / Steam.
