Are you in auric? It takes alot of matches to unlock auric i wanna know if ppl with less skill are managing to get in there?
Going by that logic then I assume my replies to you bothered you?
I am generally bothered when people can’t keep their own internal logic consistent when projecting a holier than thou attitude, yeah. Not ashamed to admit that.
It’s quite consistent, I am not referring just to what you said to me, though it’s part of it, but it’s not even really what I dislike most, I gave examples of the type of comments I really dislike here.
In any case, you should make a thread about the type of comments too if you yourself claim to be consistent, if ingame stuff bothers you then these should bother you too, like “scum of the earth”, but I do not see you say much about it?
not really, given back in beta and early stage we played around 100+ matches in malice alone to make sure being ready for the “big league” the 0-auric maelstrom can be done in a day, 2 at most.
whats that in experience and knowledge of the game?
when do i remove a net when do i fight?
grenade comes flying, which direction do i not get cut off…
enemy priority in general, which pawn to take first off the board.
these are lessons usually taught in hundreds of gameplay hours if you take the average player as a base.
i mean a vt2 veteran will breeze through in 12 hours or less sure and has a background knowledge of how the rock paper scissor game works.
simply by being present in about 50 matches… then you´re 30 even without xp curios
The recent difficulty rework is meant to change this. It’s still bypass-able with friends/MMT, but I’m fairly certain you have to have some amount of success at each difficulty level to unlock the next.
i mean you get xp regardless of win or failure, less of course but still.
and like dark souls you´ll eventually proceed by dying a lot at the worst.
given that anything up until auric maelstrom is a cakewalk (edit: some still choke on that cake
, but seriously, whats there to wipe from until malice at least…you place your talents and upgrade your gear and damnation is malice with more enemies) even for inexperienced players there´s bound to be a win x/10 so 50 matches i´d say is still reasonable.
edit: i confess my lack of knowledge about the latest change
i stand corrected about earning xp ![]()
and even if that was 100 matches /20 minutes a match… thats nothing in terms of knowledge for higher settings.
i quit checking for gear of others long time ago, last i checked cause he just wouldnt hit ready it was a 100 something with green gear and tier 2 blessings…
they can play until the sun implodes one day, they wont learn anything.
Why would I let this forum’s venting posts bother me? Some crazy small percentage of players of any game engage with these types of internet gathering spots.
I don’t believe I have participated in the egregious defamation that seems to bother you most. But it’s gotten to the point that saying someone is playing above their ability or speaking about things without the knowledge necessary is “toxic” and I can’t help that.
I also accept the concept you conveniently skipped:
@Index has it spot on here. Even people that come here to complain about “scum of the earth” (where is this by the way?) still queue up and roll the QP dice again.
Everyone starts every mission with a blank slate.
We all hope to get that good rando team that gels and is competent.
And I’ve said multiple times on this forum that I’ll take a bad player that is clearly trying over these ego-driven selfish players any day.
It’s frustrating as hell to see these incapable players in Auric.
And, now, I’ve been adequately shown the universal consensus is to NOT try and offer them advice to better themselves and help make them into capable teammates, but just be their little carry pig and wish them well on their way. Causes some…fatigue
9/10 matches I have are completely silent and end with “gg” or nothing, good or frustratingly bad. God forbid some folks come to a forum and vent in the appropriate place rather than in-game.
Actually now you don’t:
You have to win to progress to higher difficulties. You lose progress (but never get demoted) on mission loss.
my bad, i stand corrected.
must confess i didnt read all of the “new stuff”
was rushing through my arbi to 30 as duo, buddy pirx even made the 15 matches in a row without getting downed in the process ![]()
so up until unlocking auric maelstrom there wasnt a “defeat” to my knowledge…
again thanks for the heads up.
I just wanted to highlight that I think this is a very insightful theory I think most brushed past.
UI can be responsible for a lot of user behavior and what you floated here is really interesting. Wish there was a good way to collect data on that.
While technically correct about the progression (not xp as index mistakenly? said), I’m not sure we’ll ever see the positive ramifications of that system.
I say as much because as the game settles back into pre-arbiter player count, the “damage” is done.
I can currently only see such a boost happening again with another class release and that would lead to this exact same outcome if the system hasn’t changed by then.
But I’m open to other considerations I’ve likely missed.
lol
If you can’t beat Heresy missions consistently, you will lose progress towards Damnation. This is functionally totally different from the old system, and is a pretty decent SBMM mechanism.
Should it have launched without Arbites for maximum effect? Sure. But then it ideally should have come before X and Y and Z too.
It’s here now, and it’s absolutely an improvement meant to address the complaints shown off in this very thread, but it’s never going to stop low-skill 600+ hour players or players trying to push themselves into higher difficulties.
Damn, man, f me for trying to have an honest convo about it.
You can express that idea and that’s fine, yeah some people do overestimate their capability to finish the higher difficulties, not all do so out of ego. The players who intentionally grief sure, that’s frustrating, but even in your example about giving advice you didn’t really have the right tone and one player there even asked for advice at the end if I recall right, showing positive experiences are still very much there.
But many here don’t really make the distinction between, as you said, the ego-driven selfish players and the less experienced players actually trying and they see and treat both the same here. I can provide receipts for the examples I gave earlier, I did not pull it out of nowhere. Not sure what rules this forum has about calling people out so maybe in private I can send if you need me to.
And again, it it’s so bothersome and exhausting lately, why not get a pre-made team? Nothing stopping you from that. Random is random, it will never be reliable and there’s no guarantee of cooperation.
Assume this is it? Sam may very well believe it, but this is also clearly a joke/sarcastic and we know nothing of his actual in-game behavior (just like anyone else here you are tone policing).
Damn dude, it’s worse than I thought.
dead dumb weight… thats me. (and i stand by it
)
just rewatched the recording of the “airlock dude”, its even more agitating just watching it ![]()
you want a sneak peak i can send you a link, dont want to “upset” more than i already did ![]()
It’s not the only example, you can talk however you want but anyone can have an issue with it too. And if I am tone policing, what are many of you doing here? Play policing? You can tell how others should talk or behave but others can’t tell you? Also the sarcasm excuse doesn’t work for everything.
Those who have such a big issues with how random players play can just find a pre-made like I said many times or I guess keep being toxic here and whining about it.
I am not personally upset by some of these insults thrown around, but I do not accept them and they say a lot about one’s character. Lately this forum seems fixated on these bad player boogeymen, complaining about em and everything that comes with it. There’s less talk about future content or story theories or theorycrafting. Just the newest and latest in mud slinging.
I do not care about the recording, if all of this is so agitating then I don’t man maybe you need to take a step back from it? In any case if you like to refer to people that way maybe you deserve these teams you get.
Complaining about how strangers play the game is a core pillar of these forums. It’s nothing new. And even with FS attempting to address these concerns, there will never be a perfect top-down solution. There will still be goofballs or drunks or whatever. The true solution has always been, and will always remain, the same: not having fun playing with a grab bag of human beings? Play with people you know are whatever you want them to be (eg high-skill, communicative, sober, etc).
