It appears that EAC is placing you in an untrusted state by mistake.

Firstly, can you please try fully restarting Steam, and your PC. Does the error persist?

Yes, I’ve restarted PC/Steam, but the problem isn’t solved.
I first encountered this problem in the early hours of this morning (I hadn’t played Vermintide 2 for two to three days prior to this), after which I played a solo campaign of the game and then shut down the PC. during the day today I turned the PC back on and logged in to the game again, but the problem persists.
Just now I followed your method and restarted steam again, but the problem is not resolved.

Gotcha, thanks for checking. Next, can you please try removing the Easy Anti-Cheat Certificates and to install/repair EAC:

  1. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\EasyAntiCheat
  2. Delete the ‘Certificates’ directory
  3. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\installers\EasyAntiCheatEOS
  4. Run the EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup installer and proceed as instructed

Please let me know how this goes.

I Delete the ‘Certificates’ directory, but when I run EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe, its software interface just ‘flickered then disappear’ in instant, without any installation screen.
I’m not sure if EOS is installed properly. (Because I found that the ‘Certificates’ directory was not rebuilt).Afterwards, I still couldn’t join other people’s games.

Actually, before I posted, I tried the method in this article,
but it didn’t solve the problem.
Also tried deleting the “EasyAntiCheat” folder and “start_protected_game.exe”,then using steam to verify game integrity.
and the problem still exists.

@Kaze_ko, sorry to hear this. The current FAQ steps need some improvement and will be updated soon - it’s not quite as straight forward as the steps currently show. Please bear with us on that.

Our developers are also digging into the underlying issue, and have asked if you could please help with more logging so we can find out what went wrong.

Could you please zip the following folder %AppData%\EasyAntiCheat\ and send it in a DM to me?
(If you can’t upload it here for any reason, if you can attach it to a support ticket here that would be great too)

To do so:

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Enter ‘%appdata%’ and press ‘Ok’
  3. Right-click on the folder ‘EasyAntiCheat’ and select ‘Compress to ZIP file’
  4. Upload the ZIP file to us

Thank you in advance!

I actually wonder if this state of the game can be done on purpose. Being able to play without people joining in is a blessing in my eyes.

@Kaze_ko thank you! We’ve identified that the issue is that a module download for EAC is failing.

You’re being blocked from this URL somehow:
https://modules-cdn.eac-prod.on.epicgames.com/modules/e020ce70c5b74c38805c6f3f910bac22/542204b9b24c44dea400fb92b1fb9271/win64

If you can identify why that is being blocked and gain access, that should resolve the underlying issue going forwards. If you visit the URL are any errors shown?

Additionally, just to provide some updated steps to what was tried earlier, which I recommend completing to see if it helps, and to ensure your game installaton and EAC installations are repaired correctly!

Firstly, delete the EAC Certificates directory:

  1. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\EasyAntiCheat
  2. Delete the ‘Certificates’ directory

Next, uninstall and reinstall EAC_EOS using Powershell commands:

  1. Go to the Vermintide 2 Easy Anti-Cheat EOS directory:
    C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2\installers\EasyAntiCheatEOS*
  2. Shift + Right-click in the folder and select ‘Run Powershell window here’
  3. Paste the following command:
    .\EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe uninstall e020ce70c5b74c38805c6f3f910bac22
  4. Press enter
  5. Then paste the followng command:
    .\EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe install e020ce70c5b74c38805c6f3f910bac22
  6. Press enter

Lastly, Verify Integrity of Game Files:

  1. In Steam, right-click Vermintide 2 in your Steam library sidebar
  2. Select ‘Properties’
  3. Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
  4. Select the ‘Verify the Integrity of Game Files’ button
  5. When complete, close and reopen Steam

I tried your technical solution.
I found that I could not access the website https://modules-cdn.eac-prod.on.epicgames.com using my browser
So I went through and modified my local hosts file in order to make the site accessible to browsers.
After this the problem was solved!
Thanks for your technical support!

Because I can’t access the EAC’s service site, which is causing the problem, the
If you must want to try this trouble, maybe you can try:
uninstall the EOS service.
Then point modules-cdn.eac-prod.on.epicgames.com locally in hosts.
Finally install the EOS service.
I don’t recommend you do this though, as it’s not the right way to play the game and may cause other games to be affected as well.
