Whilst many things can improve, the one thing i’ve felt like i’ve been missing the most from the gameplay when i jumped from playing Vermintide 2 for a heck of alot of hours to playing Darktide.
Is how the melee works on Darktide.
The block cancel in Darktide is none existent, which is a big thing for me as a veteran VT player.
In Vermintide 2, block canceling is a key component that enables the player to adapt to the situation or master a weapon in general.
In Darktide we see the same type of mixed variation of melee swings in the light as well as the heavy swing chain that does different things.
Like defeating armour or have better cleave, or are faster and more…
It feel like in Darktide the key inputs are misinterpreted or don’t have action priorities.
Like when i use a Push to then chain my action into a heavy strike, i can’t do that?
What i have to do is to release the right mouse button to directly afterwards press and hold the left mouse button. Or else the push chains into the push attack or sometimes chains into a push then light attack?
In VT i can Push and press down the left mouse button like i’m about to do a Push attack but release the right mouse button for the action to chain into a heavy attack instead of the push attack.
This isn’t possible to do in Darktide.
And if i want to block cancel, i notice that there isn’t an action prio for blocking.
If i have started the swing animation, i need to wait it out before i can block, and the action of blocking is much much slower than it is in Vermintide 2 for example.
So the action is delayed and essentionally makes it useless to try using block canceling on slow weapons, like every weapon on the Ogryn for instence.
