Bruh i love playing Blazing Trauma and this bug sucks now that you pointed out

The cap of 12 stacks is for the melee blessing of the same name.

The ranged blessing, despite sharing the name, is different and has an intended cap of 6 stacks. Neither Trauma/Voidblast Staff nor Voidstrike Staff exceed this cap.

Thankyou for clarifying that. I was a bit confused reading this bug report because I was fairly sure from playing and meat grinder that the stack cap has always been low.

While not a bug I can’t say I agree with 6 stack cap either. I mean two crit casts in short succession and you’re already “wasting” stacks. Blazing as it stands doesn’t feel like a worthwhile alternative to warp flurry + rending shockwave at all, despite rending shockwave doing little for the weapon itself.

Decoupling from crits (we have enough crit triggers) and instead having a chance to proc depending on charge level could be a good way to rework it, though just increasing stack cap alone would probably make it serviceable.

The fact that both staves (right-clicks) can apply Soulblaze stacks to multiple enemies in an AoE might have warranted the lower cap.

Your reasoning is probably correct. Have only run it on Trauma so can only comment there, but between the proc inconsistency, the low stack cap, and the likelihood the enemies you’re hitting die before soul blaze can do much to them makes it feel noticeably under tuned to me.

If you have a setup where it feels good please do share though.

Personally I’m of the opinion that there are 2 blessings worth using on Trauma Staff.

Warp Flurry, because it’s the slowest staff to charge up.
Rending Shockwave, to tenderize enemies. On stronger enemies like monstrosities, this means up to 40% brittleness. On less meaty enemies, you’re still making them easier to kill for everyone, in addition to what you manage to stagger.

Anything else I don’t see the merit in using.

  • Run ‘n’ Gun, why does this exist on the staff that is best used to charge up aoes?
  • Terrifying Barrage, you are already staggering everything so it is a waste of blessing
  • Transfer Peril, only works if you are hitting weak spots. When almost all your attacks are on the ground…
  • Sustained Fire, why would anyone pick this for a staff? Maybe the inferno staff?
  • Focused Channelling, I would pick this if I had a 3rd blessing slot
  • Warp Nexus is bad because your aoe has abysmal chance of achieving crit to begin with, seeing as your aoe is primarily on the ground hitting feet and body. Trying to aim it higher is possible, but stupid in an intense encounter
  • Surge only works on projectiles, wrong staff to use a full blessing on
  • Blazing Spirit, only works on crit on the staff that is the worst to focus crit on

I love setting the world on fire as Sienna psyker, but blazing spirit has just proven time and time again to be a really bad pick. At best you make enemies easier to kill for team mates in missions with no lights, but it just feels like such a waste of blessing and effort.
