Sony are the publishers of the game and the owners of the Helldivers IP (I think). I believe Arrowhead when they say that Sony handles the commercial aspects singlehandedly.
AH did agree to the terms. They knew exactly what was going to happen and went with the money instead. I know how bad Sony are and I do lay the majority of the blame at their feet, but AH are not blameless, they are a business.
Sure, they made a choice. They’ve also expressed before that HD2 would not have been created at all without Sony. Maybe they thought they wouldn’t find another publisher that would be so supportive throughout the game’s extremely lengthy development.
Too much RNG makes people frustrated. Not seeing results even tho they spend time trying to work towards a goal builds resentment. In regards to WoW, have you seen the changes made in the current expansion? Reputation mounts (that were random chance in chaches before) are now buyable with earnable currency. You have a guaranteed systems for tier-sets. Now in Season 4, you have a fail-safe for trinkets and weapons. I havent heard anything bad about it until now. Casual-Players just dont have time to commit to heavy grinds anymore. But they still want to enjoy the game and have excess to late-game content. I’m in no way against that.
The weapon unlocks are pretty straight forward once you get them, yes. At this point, its just accepted as the norm. It helps alot that most guns in the game have enough differences between their versions to feel completly different from each other and come with different playstyles. Like the default shotgun, the default shotgun but with slug bullets and the last version with plasma shots. I don’t think weapon tweaking would hurt the game tho.
There is no talent system, but we get permanent upgrades for our stratagems. Some more useful than others. Some of those upgrades are however very impactful. Buffed turrets, more bombs, better resupply. Working towards these feels very rewarding in the end! (just like getting new skills would)
Melee-combat is a feature tide-games are remarked for. Even if Arrowhead pulled all their resources towards creating a melee system, it would never be as satisfying as Darktides. No objection there. Helldivers 2 is simply way more shooter and ranged focused, with bullet velocity and bullet drop. You’re engaging enemies on far greater distances that would otherwise be very frustrating in Darktide. Most guns have magnified-sights in Helldivers. Heck, we have sniperrifles with pretty intense scopes.
We have a Veteran-Sniper class in Darktide and not a single scoped weapon in the game. Darktide is commited on close combat. Combat takes place in close-quarters, corridors and choke-points.
But when there are actual ranged sections, ranged combat sucks. Any long corridor, stretched bridge or open space is a slap in the face. Take the trainyard in metalfab. Before you jump down, you can oversee the entire thing with all enemies. Its at this point that the iron-sights show that they were not made for this job at all. Emporer protect you if you have a braced autogun…
Yet, if we mod in a 4x scope, its the best of both worlds. No blessing in the game could give me the aim-boost that thing delivers. What I mean is, darktide (without mods) has problems there on its own, but it wasn’t designed primarily for ranged combat in the first place.
Helldivers 2 however, was. Whether people like it or not, is preference at that point.
Yeah, Darktide and Helldivers 2 can’t be compared feature by feature. Their differences are way to great for that (see above). Its mostly the none-gameplay workings that could be compared, like player retention, time investment, communication and such.
In that sense, Helldivers 2 did many things right. Things that Darktide fans would have wanted Fastshark to do as well.
Is there a mod for this?
I guess so. Sometimes we bed the devil to get what we want. Id probably do the same in their position.
Still, their actions have consequences and unless they can pressure Sony to reverse the multi-country ban, I wont be buying and installing HD2 for the PC and will encourage others not to as well.
Either way Iv made my decision about Sony and PSN.
Hey man, some people are in to that
Installed… for when I next play where the new patch will likely break it.
Mucho Gracias.
It probably will, but they will issue patches.
Looking forward to the new update actually, especially the snow level and hopefully a new crafting system. If the crafting system is not ready, so be it, but all good things to those who wait, as long as it’s before you die of old age…
If the game gets patched, and you use the BAT file, all your weapon customisation will be restored. So far, I had no Issues! ^^
But be careful. I fear some designs might make the Omnissiah very sad…
Just like this boltgun with a stock! Cause who needs shoulders? :D~
This must be heresy, surely.
You really do enjoy scraping the bottom of the barrel with your arguments.
Mostly woeful takes on every subject and zero nuance to a debate, moving goal posts and wilfully misleading and ignoring glaring holes in your arguments.
And now I see you doing the same with HD2.
Predatory battle pass system? Really? I mean they basically throw premium currency at you all… It doesn’t force you to part with your money at all.
What is predatory, is FatShark’s approach that puts skins on for sale with a time limit, with no guarantee they will return…
I wonder who is going to flag this now for going off topic?
If you could refrain from personal attacks on my character, I’d really appreciate it. Stop trying to derail the threads by focusing on me.
He is attacking your point of view and how you present it. That is not a personal attack.
At the very least Stalker Bolters exist…
I don’t think there are any human variants of them however.
Or that Hadron would be all too pleased about a reject bolting a barrel, stock and scope to a Bolter.
The one thing I hate more than anything else… Even more than RNG in this game, is that I have to kill followers of Nurgle.
If I win the national lottery, I am building a 50,000 point Nurgle army.
“In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.”
You literal sick freak
I’ve always wondered why they went with Nurgle of all the options. Not that it’s a bad one or anything, just curious what motivated it, seeing as we had the same theme in VT2. Maybe it’s all down to the poxwalkers. I think Khorne or Slaanesh would’ve been equally interesting themes to explore for the whole setting. I’d rather see a future expansion/DLC with either of those than Genestealers as was hypothesized long ago.
