Issue Type (Required):
Error - Backend Error
Issue Description (Required):
I haven’t played in a while and decided to hop on when the update was released. I can’t get past the main screen, it always gives me a backend error. I’ve tried verifying the game files, reinstalling the game, using DNS but nothing worked
[PC] Do You Use Mods? (Optional):
Yes, and I’ve tried disabling them

Constant (100%)

There seems to be a lot of stalling here, perhaps a bottleneck from your HDD, and I wonder if this is contributing to the Backend Error. Are you able to install Darktide on to a SSD?
Steam doesn’t give me the option to install it there
Edit: nevermind, I figured it out. Will check, it will probably take half a day
It took wat less than I thought. Still, the problem is not solved. I also deleted the Darktide folder from AppData just in case (probably a dumb move), and now the launcher can’t get through “Fetching latest hardware configurations“. I can solve this by unplugging my router when starting the launcher and plugging it back in after it’s done, but the backend error still persists
Here are the fresh logs in case they are needed:

darktide_launcher.log (43.5 KB)
From what I’ve seen while playing Darktide, I’ve noticed that it acts in a cycle of:
- Not letting me in at all
- Letting me play but kicking me from every other match
- Working like nothing ever happened
Very weird
Sorry I missed this, StartDawg! Are the issues most prominent during peak hours?
There could be some kind of caching issue here. Please delete the http_cache.db in:
- Press the Windows key + R
- Enter %appdata% within the search input and select ‘OK’
- Navigate to:
AppData\Roaming\Fatshark\Darktide
- Delete the
http_cache.db
Afterwards, verify your installation by:
- Right-click Darktide in your Steam library sidebar
- Select ‘Properties’
- Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
- Select the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ button
- When complete, close and reopen Steam
Tried it just now, still gives a backend error. Question: Can this be caused by the ISP? Because I have a friend that hasn’t had any problems and the only thing that is different is the ISP.
Hmmm possibly - best way to check is to connect your PC to a mobile hotspot (if possible) and see if the error persists under another connection!
Tried the hotspot, same thing. I can’t even load the announcements in the launcher
Hmm, okay, some questions:
- Are you using a VPN, or anything else on your PC that could be interfering with your connection to our servers?
- Have you made any changes to your PC’s hosts at any point? (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc)
- Which Anti-Virus/Firewall are you using?
I have the same issue, only, and I know this seems silly, but it only started AFTER I activated secure start for BF6. I have to refresh and re-attempt connection several times (7-8 times) but once I’m in, I’m in.
No mods, Platform PC.
I am able to recreate this issue each login attempt.
I have added Darktide to be excluded from the firewall as well.
I’ll take a look at the secure boot. Thanks for the tip
An update, I am an idiot. I had a piece of metal on my router. After removing it, I no longer have any issues.
I have another question. What does launcher_verification_passed in user_settings.config mean and why does it say false?
Tried disabling secure boot anyway. Still nothing
So that shows you should be able to access our backend as expected, which is very strange!
Could you share your most recent console log with us please?
I have reinstalled the game back on my hdd and, although the game is stuttering and the loading time could be better, everything seems to have gone back to normal
