No scoreboard in the game.
I cannot argue with that. Imagine being able to set Havoc level at will
But what about the STAKES?!
Best score? In what context?
Best score in my opinion is zero damage. i.e. zero damage against yourself. Zero times downed.
The three year back-and-forth on these forums about the scoreboard mod(s) has always been about this. Yeah, sure, I donāt disagree that knocking out a million damage points is impressive, but itās less so if I have to keep scraping you off the floor and jabbing you with needles.
I admittedly donāt play havoc, but following it from afar I can see that itās really about taking the abilities that have the highest probability of keeping your team alive.
To make matters worse, the person who made the scoreboard mod had to make completely arbitrary decisions of how to weight the various metrics that contribute to your score. So for example randomly occurring critical strikes that occur due to high crit chance on streaming inferno staff contributes to your offensive score and total score. As if the fact that a crit occurs is by itself a noteworthy event that should contribute to some sort of evaluation of overall performance.
Thereās also the question of how much a blocked attack should contribute to your score, versus how much a point of damage should. So you see psykers often dominate the offensive score because they get high dmg numbers and lots of crits, and due to the discrepancy might often win the ātotal scoreā even if the other classes outperform them on defense and team scores.
And there are fellas on this forum who think this is a significant argument for psykers deserving nerfs. All you need to do is change the weighting around a bit (value weakspot hits or boss dmg more, and crits less) and others might consistently get higher total scores even if psykers still dominate the total dmg done.
Psyker squishiness might get a cursory mention, but be dismissed as unimportant in evaluating their overall powerlevel, because very well playing psykers can also stay alive on the highest difficulties. But what are the statistics on class deaths really like? Which class dies the most as a fraction of how often they are played at higher difficulties? What should these ratios be like to justify psyker damage potential?
It seems to me at bottom a lot of the bitching about psykers really come from people who obsess about scoreboards but donāt even understand how they work.
they might refer to how easy psyker killsteals and gets high dmg numbers by just standing there and spraying the blue hose,
whereas frontline classes need to dodge, block, parry only to see their prey getting acredited to the psyker killfeed.
in havoc matches i dont care much for dmg score etc. someoneās gotta ādo itā and the whole group is better off for āmore enemies dead fasterā
usually people synergize as well so yeah psyker getting the kills and dps is āthe normā, cause others play cooperative and adapted.
not gonna lie in auric maelstrom i make it my mini game to out dps the psyker, just to show āthereās no art in spreadinā itā, if all you got is turret mode and brrrrt, you got nothing
thereās a tiny few of awesome players that, with psyker, display equal āart in motionā as say zealot when the meth kicks in, but the majority of people use psyker as the ābrrrrrt modeā cause they lack physical skill.
thats my take after 1000+matches recorded on eu servers
On a related note a better āscoreboardā mod wouldnāt make any āscoresā at all because it always introduces an arbitrary weighting. But instead just report some base statistics such as kills by type (gunners, shotgunners, maulers, ragers, unyielding etc.) and the damage distribution by enemy armor and type class (maniacs, unarmed, flak, carapace, infested, unyielding).
That way you could better evaluate your damage contribution to specific enemy types which often isnāt reflected well by mere kill numbers or overall damage done, and better compare how it changes between different games.
Thatās because the score is completely irrelevant, and on higher difficulties all the different classes actively rely on each otherās abilities to stay alive. Just like a psyker massively benefits from Zealotās chorus and Veteranās Voice of Command, everyone massively benefits from the ranged-protection and toughness generation offered by the bubble, not to mention that it blocks grenade throws by tox and fire bombers, and even the vomit spray from beast of nurgle. The amount of damage you can do with a venting shriek build, while impressive, does not measure up to this massive boost in utility and survivability offered by the bubble.
Itās not about what you can personally do in terms of pure damage output, itās about what you can do for the whole group in terms of easing the burden on every player in critical situations. Dropping that bubble might mean you can basically ignore the ranged Karnak twin, or snipers, while you focus down a captain, or a beast of nurgle cannot dominate the fighting space by covering up everything in corrupting vomit.
but me and my friend orgyn won havoc 40 without those thing alot , we both hate smoke and shield . we dont really stay in bubble or smoke or need other abities to stay alive.
and we both kill 2-3 times( both special and elite , lesser enemies and boss damage ) of other teammate , also rescue them many time .
and we dont die.
they will get angry and rage quit or say shits on u
yea most bubble and smoke or yellow hp player have weak dps and elite special kills , also weak boss damage , i notice that
Dude you just give too many damns about what people on the net say
Iām happy to be corrected ⦠but I think each score is given an āunusualnessā value, indexed to 100, versus your team mates. So if you do something unusual vs your team mates in a category, you get a higher score (Google āZ-Scoresā). Then they just average them.
Itās a lot easier to get a high offensive score if youāre killing elites rather than chaff as the numbers are lower in general, so more easy to skew your way.
But yeah, itās fairly arbitrary. I would reckon most long term players turn off the section scoring bit, and just leave the hard numbers behind such as damage etc.
besides, could you just stop opening a new thread for every thought that crosses your mind?
never saw the forums as cluttered as now
if you got ideas about the psyker class make a single thread with multiple questions/suggestions and thereās a chance you get an answer.
otherwise its just spam.
u r right , its my bad
i open 3 topic only ,its all different , if u feel spamming ā¦
i will say,sorryā¦i don ca.rā¦
