I mean, Crystalline Will, while a nice bit of flavor, isn’t really something you should be using on Psyker anyway, ESPECIALLY these days.
It actively lowers your ‘my mind is detonating’ timer, so if you’re running Shriek/Scriers/Battle Meditation and accidentally go over, you have about half as much time to hope for said abilities to come off cooldown/for something to die and proc Meditation to thusly save you.
As you also point out, it also doesn’t put you into an invulnerable stat like a standard head pop somewhat does (not entirely, but since you go down any damage you feel doesn’t translate, verses when you stay upright), so while you stay upright, more often than not you don’t actually.
So to that end, the talent is pretty much entirely meant to be ‘training wheels’ for newer Psykers to get their bearings. Using it beyond that (especially with the other threads I’ve seen you post about playing havoc) is not a good idea, and will actively show you are not confident in your understanding of the class. (especially these days, with the amount of things Psykers have that just keep them from dying or lowering their peril in a pinch now, one should only be exploding because they are running on like 4 hours of sleep with no stimulant and the mental fog has your reaction time taking a massive hit. When number go red, stop shoot or else dead).
It’s a bad Talent, don’t use it. Use Venting Shriek or Scrier’s Gaze at Critical Peril to save yourself instead.
If self-detonation could have done a massive aoe damage, I’d probably consider it, otherwise, no.
