Arbitrator is helpless against monsters

I keep reading about how strong the Arbiter is and how he needs to be nerfed. But he’s far from strong in every situation! Monsters are basically some kind of curse — the Arbiter can’t do anything against them, neither in melee nor at range. Shooting them with the Mk III shotgun is like picking at a concrete wall with a nail. Melee is the same, except with the bonus that they can throw you off the map or swallow you. Grenades don’t stun them (at least it seemed that way to me), and mines don’t stun them, and Breaking the Line doesn’t stun them either. Total uselessness, basically.

I guess in some ideal scenario the Arbiter is supposed to distract and stun other enemies while the other three deal with the monster. But it usually ends up being the opposite — everyone else is dealing with other enemies, while the monster goes after the Arbiter as a priority target. Especially fun when you’re in a tight space where you can’t escape.

The most anti-monster build is probably the one with the dog: Remote Detonation at least stuns monsters, Castigator Stance so you can focus fire on the monster while ignoring other enemies trying to disrupt your shooting, and a bolter with an extended magazine. But right now I’m trying to play as a Lone Wolf with the Mk III shotgun, and it feels like there are no tools against monsters at all.

I give up.

maul heavy into light combo does the job, if its still a problem you just pack a bolter, even bolt pistol with puncture does the job

shooting too much with the bolter without the proper talents is counterproductive, you just use it to keep the bleed stacks up

The bolt pistol feels far less effective than the shotgun when it comes to clearing crowds of regular enemies. And as for the bolter — I can’t even start firing before I’m already getting hit by the trash mobs that rushed me!

whoo, that’s the wrong tool for the job, normal ranged weapons are used to counter enemey shooters and specials

shotguns are just an exeption to the rule

i know its not easy, the draw animation is long and perillous, you just have to mash harder on your dodges

castigators stance is pretty bad imo, i would go with the shield bash so you can get some crowd control in before you can set up for making a play

some do cavalcade bolter

but i wouldn’t rely on that too much, but you can try

also you can use the shock dog for crowd control before start shooting

Arbitres are monstrosities killers…
4 arbitres grenades with the 30% bonus… and your monster is seriously wounded if not dead.

I’m using the Forceful keystone. Keeping Protocol isn’t available to me. I haven’t noticed grenades dealing any real damage to them at all — at most you can probably take off two or three thousand HP with five grenades. From what I’ve seen, the only ones who can successfully fight monsters are Zealots with invisibility and Veterans.

oh so youre taking forceful which is perfectly within reach of a total of +90% damage and 15% rending from small nodes able to proc from concussive, and has the ability to get 10% more attack speed and 25% strength from the keystone itself? thats a lot of damage you can get for basically free

have you tried using them on the bosses? im sure youd notice that their healthbar goes down with each hit.

It’s especially fun fighting the Beast of Nurgle — you take three millimeters off its health bar, and it sends you straight to the stomach with a single hit

well no one really said that beast of nurgles were fun to fight
just shoot their back or their mouth, or melee them from the side while its aggroed onto someone else

Not the class’ fault you cannot grasp some basic concepts and/or read certain talents.

if you shoot at the mouth even from the front you hit the weakspot behind with bolt weapons, it might be handy to know thank me later

Arbi maul with Relentless Strikes and you debuff the boss with the exterminator MK8 special and you wave Heavy special heavy special or heavy light heavy light. Or Rashad combat axe melt bosses.

anyways, what I see is the tittle.
The title says: “Arbitrator are helpless against monsters”

In fact, this is the BEST class ever against monster due to the talent I pointed.

The author wants advice. It seems it has nothing to do with Arbitrator class.
A lot has been said on BoN, I add the Chaos Spawn…
For Chaos Spawn, best is to melee it… I know it hurts, but it is true. Parry the attack. Hit until death

And the right part, that I have used the most because I am more melee than ranged, is excellent. You can easily kill monstrosities. Arbitres grenades are too strong in my opinion. On the monsters, they damages them a lot.

I feel psychological discomfort from playing a class that is generally considered overly strong. And even more from the fact that in five months of playing I haven’t felt any of that strength at all

no, shroud zealot with duelling sword is still the indesputed king

when the whole class is commonly perceived as “OP” by a very large number of players, where might then the issue lie?
