Arbites Gameplay Reveal

You’ve clearly missed my overarching point about declining value for money as a trend with this game, but I honestly don’t know how to explain it simpler so cool have a nice day I guess.

If my calculations are correct the class itself is 12 euros close to 1/4th of darktide’s price and the deluxe 19 euros which us close to half so im not sure how it costs almost as much as darktide when the game is 40 euros

I’ve noticed new audio and accents in the hub from the npcs. Interesting!

We get new audio for every mission in the form of several mission givers. That’s the new narrative/dialogue mechanism in DT.

Speaking only for myself, I’ve gotten way more play out of the talent trees than I ever did out of any career (or all the careers combined) in VT2. I’m at 2k hours now, the only game I’ve ever played for anywhere close to this much time, and I expect to get at least a hundred hours out of Arbites…doing penances, playing with builds, etc. For $12, that’s a steal.

I mean yeah it’s a given that the more you enjoy the core game, the better value prospect a new class will seem. I’m not discounting that my thinking Darktide is a significantly shoddier experience, a step back overall (in its current state, potential is still huge), from VT2 colours my view of the pricing of this DLC.

I guess my more general point is that saying the talent tree is “3x the content” compared to a VT2 DLC class is not strictly true by any means. The tree actually has to be well designed to make good on its extra potential permutations. And tree design is something I admit Fatshark seems to be improving at, but my faith isn’t really all there on that currently.

It’s certainly possible Arbites will be brilliantly designed, and yeah I can see myself saying fair enough to the price point in that case, but it’s also completely reasonable to be sceptical. And a higher buy in means higher risk. If you buy it and it turns out to just not be your jam playstyle wise well it’s a bigger deal than if that happens for a VT2 career.

None of this is intended to diminish people who are optimistic and more than happy to pay the asking price. That’s completely valid and I understand that point of view too. I am just reserving judgement and want to point out some of the nuance that seems to be missing from some of the direct comparisons to VT2 careers in terms of the overall value proposition offered.

I think their might be a more underlying reason for this complaint than just price.

And we’re all the poorer for it.

Hard disagree. The expanding roster of characters adding flavor and varying viewpoints in the world is imo loads better than only the same old characters saying new things.

No surprise there.

The flavors being: quippy and quirky

Wow, you’re really so high on DT cope that you kick V2 chars and voice actors under the bus. Incredible.

Lord Margrave, Kayex, Karl, these are all interesting additions not seen in VT2.

Mope more.

Ok buddy, honestly not sure what exactly you’re getting at here, but note how I didn’t resort to armchair psycho analysis of the people I’m disagreeing with.

Fair, I just like understanding people said and unsaid. Why forums so interesting at times. And maybe I could post the house meme but don’t want to come off to aggressive either.

To each their own.

The answer is most probably in the contract they signed with Tencent.
I thing the whole cosmetics has just been given as a whole to the devil and subcontracted to a sweat shop.
Anyway, all this talk about consumer interest will soon be obsolete, let’s enjoy the ride.

Don’t pour the dirty water on Tencent. Tencent’s investment doesn’t interfere with the studios. They are only responsible for investment and collecting money. If Tencent interfered with the studios’ decisions, Ubisoft wouldn’t have produced so many bad games
