Arbites builds and metas

Just curious what weapons and skill tree path people are gravitating towards.

I’ve maxed out all the weapons using sacrificing so just trying to get a handle on what feels the best.

I’ve not unlocked all my skill points yet…roughly around level 20 ATM I think.

I’ve been really enjoying the pistol and shield combo but in heresy it’s becoming less useful already so I worry about it’s effectiveness at higher difficulties. It now feels too weak to warrant 6 shot mag and the fact reload needs to be done with shield down can get sticky often. Maxed out pistol taking 3-5 shots to kill a bulwark or crusher at close range feels weak. Slow reload makes it worse.

I’ve also been using the crusher alongside shield/pistol but I’m prob going to return to the small Paul for a bit for the movement bonus.

My tree is all over the place but mostly central. Finding it hard to decide on a theme. I’ve chosen the keystone without dog for the stats boost but the dog is useful so the jury is still out on that.

I use Arbites Shock Maul
And the Executor Shotgun (the Mk you get right after the tutorial)
Doggo, Castigstor’s, Doggo Explosion, and Keystone that marks Targets (for CDR mostly)

It feels on Dmanation near unkillable and and the dmg output is really great.

Castigators works very well for move and spray as well as beat’em up.

Atm theme of the tree is shotgun and electrocution.

I used an ilvl 300 shotpistol and shield with random stuff in damnation and it felt serviceable
yeah i’m not surprised it can’t delete crushers and bulkwars

Besides that i’ve been using execution order and the arbites shock maul a lot. Everything else gets changed after a few games to see how it does.

I am looking forward to use the new shotgun + crusher with the dogless castigator stance build. Not sure which keystone to pick, probably the one in the middle tree.

I kind of wanted to chase the nice nodes near the bottom-most, right side. Quite a lot of melee buffs around there grouped up. Ended giving up keystones at bottom.

That node concussive in middle right. Melee weakpoint is guarantee 4 sec stagger is pretty good.

Heavy bolter reserved for monstrosities only.

The normal Agni maul with these blessings work well for armour, giving up shield maul combo.

I just threw it all together, not thinking too much apart from dealing with crushers. You can 3 tap heavy crushers, with fast heavy follow ups quite easily.

A lot of stagger nodes - Kind of favours mauls.

I don’t understand this talent a bit. Do I have to kill the highlighted target, or can my allies do it?
If the first option is the case, then this thing works even worse and more chaotic than the psyker’s ability. Enemies lose their marker too quickly and are highlighted at too great a distance, about 50 m.
Btw, I have never seen this stone shown in hud. Psyker stones had a similar problem for about a year. I really can’t figure out what needs to be done to make even the interface work with bugs.

I like the shields

You or your hound.

It works quite well as it marks quite a lot and several targets at the same time.
And you do not have to stack them (only the one for Boss Dmg) to get the buffs.

It works really well as there are enough targets..

The build that I think has been performing best from what I tried in Damnation+ has been no dog, far right line melee build using the XI Maul and Shield.

This gives you 3 attack speed boosts to an already fast weapon, the baseline damage is lackluster but with all the added buffs it hits like a truck. I was able to trivially melee down the waves of armor on Elite Twins, all while walking around with 230 toughness and 260 health.

On top of that, you have functionally infinite grenades, and using the MKVIII Exterminator shotgun, you have a solid midrange weapon that has a 10x stack of brittle alt fire.

Very solid tanky / high dps / control build.

I see

What difficulty is this?
Starting with malice (better Heresy +) there’s enough stuff for me arround…

That is my current skill point distribution.
I guess it’s not optimized or sth, but that’s what’s carried me so far with only one death by stupidity (i triggered a DH)

This is the melee build in question. Still subject to some tweaks i’ve been swapping stuff in and out all morning, but this is the base template.

Shotpistol with Pinpointing target and Scattershot seem to hit like a truck and could cleave ton of enemies if you line the shot up just right. Doesn’t even need Manstopper.

The Exterminator MkVIII might hit harder but being able to guard while shooting is a huge advantage imo.

Edit : There’s a bug thread about Pinpoint Target not working correctly though, which if true then probably should just swap it to something else.

This is kind of where I’m going:

I’m actually really enjoying having the dog around, even if not many points are invested in it. Being able to use to it stagger mutants and pox bursters, or pin down trappers is pretty awesome. Also, it can do a a decent job killing the random kraking enemies that spawn behind you, allowing you to shoot from a somewhat safer feeling position.

As far as skills go, I like the Terminus Warrant Keystone. It’s similar to Vet’s Weapon Specialist in that it encourages regularly swapping between ranged and melee, but it works in a more forgiving manner with the non-decaying stacks and lets you stack some nice buffs.

The build plays around with suppression synergies, which with Powderburn blessing on the new shotgun seems to throw out a lot of damage. Also plays with impact synergies, and the multiple stagger-damage stacks seems to work well.

The shock mine blitz and aquila ult give pretty amazing crowd control and lockdown potential.

Middle tree underwhelming for me, but Im not such a supprot type.

Left side is Pseudo-vet, hunt specs and elites. Right side is your standard melee tank. They literally play themselves. I was hopnig youd be able to micro the dog but you can’t. Bit dissappointed so far personally but the class is solid with some very standard very useful modifiers depending on your playstyle. The meta will obviously be melee/tank with lots of cc with some dps flavour sprinlkled in. Mine is too good not to take so far.

Lone wolf with shock mines is pretty damn nasty. I can see it being very helpful in havocs. I’m also a big fan of the shockmaul and shield, with an exterminator shotgun.
