Giving I haven’t been playing Auric in a while with any class but ogryn (and the big guy is generally better at shruggin off such things), I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination. But now when I got back to playing my other characters and finally decided I’m ready for Auric with them, I’m kinda struggling. Even with my Voidblast staff Psyker with tons of CC in her possession I constantly feel like I just can’t hold all the crap game throws at us back, it’s just unmanageable and constantly devolves into complete chaos. There is no system in our actions, everybody just runs around chaotically, with their positioning completely dictated by the game, we don’t control the battlefiled in other words, can’t hold the pressure.
I’m playing with randoms, so it’s not like me playing in bad group is a constant factor (unless all of them are bad, what is unlikely). Neither I seem to be the “weak link” ruining all matches I’m in, in scoreboard metrics I’m solidly at average or above average on all those groups. Yet more than a half matches of the last dozen I was in were lost. I don’t remember struggling in Auric with that build before at all.
What’s going on? Did they crank up Auric’s difficulties so that Skitarii’s being OP wouldn’t be so noticeable as with the previous two classes, or something?
Can’t say I’ve noticed and mostly surviving in AM as Skitarii and I only play with randoms. The new shield enemies are likely throwing a curve ball for many players though.
The biggest factor is if you have a zealot on your team or not as they 1 shot monstrosities which can make a huge difference to the challenge in auric where monstrosities are plentiful
Currently the game is at a very high player count. There are a lot of new/returning players who kind of suck. There is also the mission terminal rework where auric was merged in with standard, so I imagine a lot of old now returning players who only played damnation now are playing auric because it doesn’t seem as exclusive in terms of skill requirement. I have seen a lot of really crappy poxbreaker players recently and that is the only explanation I can think of.
Basically the game didn’t get any harder, there are just a lot of bad players playing stuff they shouldn’t.
We are at about double or more of the normal playcount.
Came back to play with the wave of tourist players, having a blast as arbites! Man I have seen some wild stuff out of players who are trying to play auric who just aren’t ready.
Saw an ogryn empty an entire ammo crate on his own instantly, never letting go over his trigger to do it. Watched a zealot slurp up 3/4 of the Medicae on enclavum baross in the span of 30 seconds..
It’ll calm down and people will get better… I hope +_+
If it’s so, I can only applaud their ambitions.. I remember myself hadn’t really tried to play Auric until I had something like 200 hrs or so. I tried it occasionally, but it seemed too sweaty and I was getting back to lower diffs eventually.
New player buys game on sale because of skittles, realizes robotmen suck, buys arbi instead, smooth sailing till H40.
As a sidenote, if you end up doing more ranged damage than melee on an arbi past auric, it’s time to rethink your approach, you are wasting most of your potential.
no matter the tourist count, auric maelstrom winrate currently is around 95% for the past months, skitarii update included.
yes there’s the occasional f’up that ends a match but usually one is able to carry even 3 blind mice to the shuttle, or exit alone depending where they get downed.
on the flipside if you get even one semi-passable scum or arbi its a rat race to the finish line like
if anything they could improve maelstrom since its the last threshold where one can “solo with audience” instead of group cuddling from one chokepoint to the next
The first is that there are many players using Skitarii, so OP things like Inferno and Gold Toughness are no longer present, and the game therefore requires pure player skill.
The second is that many returning players and many new players have joined because of the DLC.
As I said before, Auric becomes available once you reach level 30, so some players are clearly playing Auric even though they only have the skill level for Heresy.
Here is an answer to your question. Also keep in mind team composition, I bet you run into a lot of people playing Skitarri.
Also in general the game has more classes now, so there is a higher chance of running into random team comps which lack players with decent frontliner builds. Too many players are used to hiding away behind other players with more hybrid / ranged builds. So when some pressure is encountered you just might end up staring at the wrong end mission cutscene.
personally, as long as they don’t bug out, i enjoy rituals for example.
something about forcing people to pick up the pace while still doable pretty quickly if one is perceptible to his environment
hell yeah! Even if it’s toned down from havoc I’d still love to see it. There’s good cause to do it too, training people up from auric/maelstrom system to get them prepped for havoc
Can’t be helped lol, I already leave any lobby with smite, purgatus or kraks instantly, now with arc rifle too (seems like some broken builds using it have appeared finally, even one such thing on your team feels like purgatus sometime). If I’ll add more things to that blocklist, it will take eternity to find a game. If I see any skitarii that doesn’t use arc rifle, I consider it passable already.
neither timer nor health of each conjurer is something current weapons power level cant deal with.
its rather a big shiny barn door screaming “yo yokel, hoof it”
besides until someone stumbles too near without the rest on the ready (and they aint bugged, had one running through despite everyone involved killed on time and even despawned by then) its a flashy background fx without any repercussions yet.
but yeah, getting folks ready for what’s to come without having to hard-rely on others would be a nice middle ground
They tuned up auric terror events some time last year which is clearly a shock for a lot of returning players who I guess just hung out and progressed levels by osmosis while someone else did it? But generally its the same as usual, nobody gets any time to get used to crazy until they get thrown at crazy. Its just a ghost town until Auric and then they suddenly have to use abilities and face pressure. It is the learning curve.
Just more bad players back at the moment. Only time auric ever comes close to difficult is when the game decides it’s time to spam bursters and your randoms don’t know how to handle them.
