It’s just mindboggling. This game has RNG and grind that would make even a lot of “freemium” games blush. I can’t for the life of me figure out why they’re treating their customers like this, when they’re not trying to milk whales.
It makes no sense. At all.
At this point, I think the only way they could ever get me to buy any DLC is if I suddenly logged in to find 500 comm chests or all available hats sitting in my inventory.
There is no reward to the grind, just endless dupes. Oh, and no-effort hats, just to make really sure we know they’re giving us the middle finger.
Not just an MMO, but a freemium MMO packed with incentives to squeeze money out of customers for every little thing.
It looks like it’s designed to squeeze people to pay for higher RNG chance, higher XP gain, pay for more comm chests, hell to pay to speed up the endgame lootscreen.
But it isn’t. It’s just designed this way because…because…feck if I can figure out why.
It’s frustrating. You’d think they’d at least throw a couple of maps at us, before going full steam at console ports. Heck, people were requesting that they would pay for reused V1 maps.
Oh, they’re coming. You didn’t think they would stop at importing basically everything else from VT1? They’ve said they’re not ready to talk about maps, “but veterans will find it very familiar.”
So yeah, they’re going to (most likely) charge for reused VT1 maps.
I’ve been gaming for 30 years and played a lot of MMOs and have never seen anything close to this. It’s actually thoughtlessly insane. The only things that even come close to this grind aren’t even RNG, they’re super long-term horizontal progression items, eg. Relic/Mythic weapons in FFXI in its prime when it took thousands upon thousand of hours and years of concerted effort from a team to get them… but there was no luck involved in that process. You fought towards it. In VT2 you could dedicate the same amount of time and get nothing but hard-dicked because every chest is nothing more than a lottery ticket.
If they had any sense, they’d either: a) give existing customers good exclusive cosmetics, b) give existing customers a slew of emp vaults + comm chests, c) give existing customers the first DLC for free, or d) all of the above. The release and subsequent customer treatment to this point has been a gd travesty.
Nowhere have I read a post from the devs saying the whole team is working on the console ports.
Ramping up is not the same as whole team is working on console ports.
The bottomline is we do not know for sure!
Also, that same post says most of the console optimizations will make it to PC side of things.
I mean, my feeling is if you’re not happy with how the game is now, dont play it.
I do however feel like the official forums here should be the first place info is posted…not reddit or whatever. Seems kind of weird to me we have to fish through external sites to find info sometimes.
Edit:RNG is the name of the game apparently. We gotta learn to live with it or just stop playing.
Do I want a way to earn reds and cosmetics(besides the few Okris hats and recolored skins)?YES!
@Avar would you really feel bettwr if they gave you some vaults and comm chests because you would still be stuck with RNG.
A cosmetic or two for people that have been playing since launch? Now that would be cool!
I should have also included that even though I’ve seen buggier games, I’ve rarely if ever encountered so many bugs that were so pervasive and infuriating, even in early access games. VT2 bugs have wasted more of my manhours than bugs in every other game I’ve played in my entire life combined. I’m guessing that’s true of most people. Every time you get cheated out of a clear or dropped due to a crash or your team is insta-deleted by a broken director or other such BS, that’s a lot of time that’s just gone. It’s infuriating, even before factoring in all the gd loading videos, the super-slow outro sequence of Ranalds + Scorecard, the omfgwhyisthissoslow nature of collecting Okri’s Challenge rewards, the wtfbbq nature of crafting, and the fact the general feel of the game’s reward system is that of a mobile clicker P2W where we pay with our precious time.
See, how does that equal "the whole team(exc. level design) is working on the console port(s)?
Is the console port process taking away from patching etc…for the PC? Probably.
Thats all my point is brother: The blanket statement that everyone at FS(exc. level design)is exclusively working on the console ports.
Yeah, this is getting distasteful. Why is it so difficult to be blunt? I know I would respect honesty even if I don’t like what is being said or what priorities are taken, at least we’d know.
But saying yeah, console release is hogging up resources otherwise spent on updates and bugfixes, even if it isn’t all of it, is apparently too much.
We’re working on DLC content, bug fixes and optimisation, requested QoL changes, some prototyping of additional features and the XB1 release candidate.
I’ve had a quiet week here as I’ve been away at a conference, and last week I was onboarding a new member of the team (training and knowledge sharing continues) but expect to see more of at least me around in the forums and various channels very soon™
