Just going to ignore your moral outrage since you can’t seem to stay objective even in a cold, normal discussion about racism and TOS and the relation between. It’s ironic you complained about American culture earlier because I’m really feeling the same way right now. I’ll just quote myself:
If they would do this, then this whole issue would be resolved. Don’t like a mod that Fatshark said is fine? You’re going to have to self police and find people to play with who don’t use it, just like everything else that isn’t against TOS. Want to use a mod that’s deemed a cheat? You’re going to get reported and actioned in public lobbies, so find friends to play with who feel the same way as you. Nobody has a problem anymore. That’s where the comparison to slurs comes from, it’s exactly how it works there. 4 like minded players playing together can call eachother every word in the book, no skin off anyones back.
This is what I’m comparing. I’m not saying code is like discrimination, lol. Cool down a bit.
(hellooooo ExStance!)
You don’t see how getting the same benefit a skill gives you via a mod is cheaty and lame? How does the Exec Stance Vet feel about you using a mod to get exec stance outlines with shout selected? It’s just so dishonest.
For comparison sake, Overwatch has a hero whose ultimate ability is a literal aimbot. Imagine if I tried to excuse aimbotters by saying “BUT SOLDIER 76 CAN ALREADY DO IT”. Yeah, and his entire kit is balanced around it. Picking Exec Stance comes at a cost, using the always-outlines mod doesn’t.
The modding policy actually doesn’t include that language. Quite deliberately, in my opinion. You can do your side of the argument and say I can’t do mine, and that’s fine.
Yet the quote, a devs clarification, does. I’m amazed at how many times you manage to ignore this.
The answer is: “we don’t act on” these mods.
You’re taking his quote out of context. He was talking about a particular mod there, Gas Outlines. I respect the decision to say that one is fine. That is exactly what I want. That mod in particular doesn’t bother me really, but there are mods where they have made no such clarification and that do bother me, like the disconnect mod or the outlines always on mod.
The part of the quote I referred to was speaking generally about all mods. And it leaves many questions open, which I want answered. I want clarification, just like for the Gas Outlines mod, for all those “borderline” mods. I want to know if disconnecting with the mod to revive yourself is against TOS. I want to know if using outlines always on is against TOS. That’s all I want. They should be able to provide this answer easily. I understand they don’t want to implement anti-cheat to prevent them, but what I do want to know is if they’re against TOS and wether I can report them.
