Hiya.
I, like many other Darktide players, were enamored with our brand-spanking new class, the Arbitrators with a belief in justice that puts Judge Dredd to shame with their glorious upholding of the Lex Atoma. Now, I have spent a lot of time playing as an Arbitrator, enjoying it all, getting some of the more tedious penances done through some fixed and some fluid gameplay, when I came across the ridiculousness that is…
Now, the issue with this is the simple fact that, well… Execution Order only focuses on Elites and Specialists. On Heresy threat or higher, you have to wait a couple thousand of times for your Execution Order to mark an Elite or Specialist, hope that your teammates aren’t even half alright at the game, and get the kill. And do that 3499 more times. Or alternatively, you ask your teammates to gimp themselves to you and to not engage any Elites or Specialists – good luck with that.
A bit of a first hand experience: In one game of a Hi-Int Shock Troop Gauntlet on Heresy, I got somewhere around the 50-60 range, and that was being a kill hog and staying in the back, not being all too useful and focusing on longer ranged kills. Less than 2% through a penance in one game.
3500 is an absurd number of Elites and Specialists you have to kill. As someone who knows next to nothing regarding game balance, I have thrown together a few ideas that might help fix this injustice dispensation. Here are my proposed ideas on how to adjust this penance:
(a) NO OFFENSE TOO GREAT.
An additional node to the Execution Order Keystone that allows for non-Elite or Specialist enemies to be marked by Execution Order, with these lesser marked enemies counting towards the Justice Dispensed but not towards Keeping Protocol (the 1% Monstrosity Damage resistance for each Elite/Specialist killed in Execution Order)
(b) Decrease the criteria required to complete the penance Justice Dispensed.
Rather than 3500, decrease the quantity to 1000, 750, or even 500. 3500 is a huge number that the average player, if they’re grinding at it daily, will be able to complete in weeks.
(c) Player kills of enemies marked by Execution Order give 5x more value, teammate kills of enemies marked by Execution Order give 1x value.
Rather than Execution Order’s purple outline of an Elite or Specialist be visible just to the player who has it, it becomes visible for all other players in the team to see.
- If the Arbitrator with the Execution Order active kills that enemy, they receive a +5 for their penance efforts.
- If a teammate kills an Elite or Specialist marked with the Execution Order, the holder of the Execution Order receives a +1 for their penance efforts.
- This shared information regarding Execution Order will apply only to teammates who are within coherency. If a teammate is outside of coherency with the Arbitrator who has the Execution Order, they do not receive the information regarding enemies marked by Execution Order, nor does the Arbitrator receive the +1.
For example: Drudge has Execution Order active and it tags a Scab Shotgunner. Drudge, in coherency with at least 1 (one) of their teammates, kills the Scab Shotgunner and receives +5 penance points. The Execution Order tags a Dreg Gunner and Drudge’s teammate, still in coherency with Drudge, sees this enemy (who appears tagged with the purple outline) and kills them. Drudge receives +1 penance point.
But yeah, this is an idea or three that I had to “fix” this penance, since 3500 Elites and Specialists is a nigh Sisyphean task. Thank you for your time.
