I’m mostly disappointed the trailer shows absolutely nothing that would actually be unique to a Hive Ganger. You could replace that Ganger with almost any other character in the game and the trailer would be the same.
The arbites trailer was quite cool and unique in comparison. This one is just generic “Cool hero shows up and saves the day”, how is that related to Hive Scum?
I hope nobody takes the FS forum posts seriously, especially devs…
I saw a couple new things.
We will be able to dual wield, and there’s also a crowbar as a new weapon.
If you pause at the end theres new dual pistols, needle gun, cleaver, shiv.
But they added slow motion to make sure we saw how cool it actually is.

The mary sue trope, having your old characters getting killed or saved is part of the same narrative a lot of failing games are telling.
Of course, but my point was thematic. Which themes in this trailer actually relate to hive scum? If the class was e.g. an admech, it could’ve been the exact same trailer, just with a radgun instead of a crowbar. It’s thematically flat
I’m talking about A* business who produces, sells games and for whatever reason ends up associated with political crap. Games that have been Recently associated to that, has been hurting in sales aka “no new players”.
I’m just afraid presenting this new character in a trope similar to what has been failing in the media industry might not be an attractive idea to capture new players.
And i just wonder why they keep doing it.

Ok I’ll try to explain.
There are issues with the trailer, and there will be issues about the theme of the new class.
But the trailer having a woman as the character is very much not going to affect sales, and as we had with the Arbites, there will be execissive complainings here for a while, then as you boot the game after the 2nd of December you’ll see plenty of teams where you have 3 Gangers.
I see what you’re saying. I had a slight “oh look, another badass woman.” thought while viewing the trailer, and actually wondered if it was a female only class due to her body actually looking feminine. Ultimately, it didn’t bother me much because I’m familiar with Necromunda and the hordes of female gangers. The trailer definitely could have showed her using a stim, which would have made it more badass. It was a slightly underwhelming trailer, but I’m excited for the class.

We’ve been seeing this tropes in other failing media.
Being associated with low quality products is not something Darktide deserves at all. I love this game.
They should be AWARE.
Fartshark you should be more aware of trends. Unless the drama was your objective.
