Adjust placement of loot crates to reduce players separating

I notice this has been happening a lot after the hive scum release. Trying to scavenge stims requires you to go to unpopulated corners of the map to open a crate on two separate sides. People already get impatient and complain about teammates moving too slow when they are looking for plasteel.

Maybe reduce the amount of loot crates but place more of them in areas with a single walk way or transitional spot?

It is not every map but the throne side area has a lot of areas where players have to go long distance to open a crate that is the opposite of the direction where the objective is.

no matter the possible item, I long ago “mapped” the areas that are not worth it economy wise and would never make a detour no matter what could pop from the crate.

over thousands of matches there’s a distinct pattern of potential failures due to such “detours” or at least a sever deficiency-trade at the end of it that makes me avoid those.

by now, no one in auric maelstrom and above should “need” plasteel or diamantine, nor does an ammo crate warrant the health needed to get two guys side tracking back on their feet.

the ammo saved by not engaging a following spawn wave often times even exceeds what you get from said crate :man_shrugging:

you might refill to 100% yes, but paid in health, time AND were at 100% maybe even before the detour, so exactly back to square 1

There should be some more thought process behind item spawns and not reusing the ones from other variants of the same map. Like the placement of boxes in the large room common to both Refinery Delta and Relay Station sort of works for Refinery Delta, but trying to collect pick ups in the same room on Relay Station is rife with detours and chokepoints heading into ladders.

Or just prioritise your kiting routes around where the boxes are. That’s why they’re everywhere - so if you have to clutch, you get a nice stack of grenades or an ammo box and a med pack.
