Addressing the developers about Hellbore

Hi. As a Hellbore main I want to let the developers know that you killed my favorite weapon with this patch, I’ve been playing with this weapon since day one, the last patch made this weapon even weaker even though it was already weak. I despise meta weapons, why aren’t you guys nerfing really strong weapons that need to be weakened? I used to play with Hellbore and D’Claw in tandem and achieved good results through effort, but now I have to give up my beloved D’claw since Hellbore’s bayonet is too weak and I have to take a melee meta to kill bosses and mutants. Also thanks for the huge scope on the new skin for Hellbore that I bought with money, this is the second nerf of my Hellbore in 1 patch. I enjoyed the game all this time, now I don’t want to play this as I am forced to stop playing with my favorite weapon, you have violated my temple, something I loved, it is treacherously painful! Strengthen Hellbore, if not bayonet attack, at least with stats. The bayonet lag ruins all the combinations I’ve used against: Mutants, shieldmen and the rest, the combination of garanti + bayonet, the combination of stun ult + bayonet and so on, everything ruins and it greatly affects the overall effectiveness of the weapon. This weapon is not difficult to strengthen, improvements will not make it strong, but at least those 2-3 players who play with it will thank you. All that has changed in my gameplay is that now instead of bayoneting I spend ammo to kill my targets, this is a nerf not only in efficiency but also in ammo!

I would love if they removed the long equip speed the helbore isn’t powerfull enough to warrent such slow draw speed

The theory is the draw speed is intentionally long to incentivize bayonet use over switching to melee.

I kinda understand the goal - a powerful charge-shot weapon, with melee capacity so you’re not helpless, but still restrained. You’ll have to make a call on whether to switch to your melee for anything more than a poxwalker or two.

Unfortunately the thing has garbage tier sights and isn’t powerful enough to justify using it in its charge-shot role compared to the hitscan, infinite-penetrating, fast-equip plasma gun.

personally, the only problems i’ve ever had with the helbore is that i have to charge it and the default sights.

the helbore would have been much better imo if it were like the TF2 snipers default rifle, charging only when you ADS with it and not firing off your shot if you end up getting smacked from behind by 2 pox walkers you didn’t hear over your team shouting the lyrics to sweet caroline.

Alas, one of FS’s many theories proven false in practice. This would work pre-13 with fewer, tougher enemies, but that’s not where the game has gone. You are under constant assault and need to switch weapons constantly to match. The slow draw, on a veteran no less, because he has to turn off the safety or something, is not just frustrating, it’s insulting.

People would use the bayonet because it’s cool, they do not need any more incentive than that. Folks who roll with Hellbore are already willing to play suboptimally, they’re doing so for the love of the weapon (Or sheer boredom).

If they want to salvage the animation, add a new MK that turns on like, an autocharge mode instead of having a bayonet.

Don’t even get me started on the sights in this game! You would expect to hit at the top of the front post but nooo! You gotta aim with the bottom of the front post why Fatshark!? Wut the grut?

They could put it on a hellgun or hotshot volley gun.

Oh you are very right my friend, I used to love this weapon and I have been playing with it for 1. 5 years playing with it constantly and I reached the level of the game when I outplayed the efficiency of Veterans with Plasma and Accatran, but now everything, Hellbore has become weaker and even such an experience of playing against a normal player with the weapons listed earlier you have poor efficiency, you have less damage, less kills, less efficiency and more ammo consumption simply because of the nerf bayonet, which was originally conceived by a smart man as a strong point of the inefficient rifle and in this patch the developers killed the only strong point of this weapon. If there was a need to weaken the bayonet, then having a compromise, for example we will reduce the attack speed, but give damage to the weapon itself or something similar to that. And so FS contradict themselves, it’s a weapon that saves ammo, but now instead of using the bayonet you’ll shoot the enemy wasting a lot of ammo instead of killing him with the bayonet like before. Objectively this is a rash mistake, they zanerfila rashly, realizing that no one plays with this weapon and no one will criticize them, I hope that the developers will see my posts and strengthen this rifle. For now I am in mourning

I know that the developers will read this thread, so as an experienced player with Hellbore I want to suggest the right option to strengthen this weapon: Leave the attack speed of the bayonet as it is now, but significantly increase the damage from the bayonet so that the DPS was the same as before the slowdown of the bayonet attack - this is necessary so that the bayonet does not give away crowd control and you can not comfortably fight with a lot of enemies without getting attacked in return, so that the bayonet was an effective tool against specialists and not against the crowd, replacing melee weapons. The next important nerf - damage on the boss, this bayonet is too strong against the boss Havok who still has a blue/yellow shield (I do not know how it is called in English), I suggest just reduce the damage of bayonet attack on bosses.
Then it depends on how much the developers want to strengthen this weapon, I suggest the minimum strengthening - to increase the damage from charged attacks by 20-40 units and accelerate the charging of the first shot for all variants of weapons, also increase the speed of changing weapons, reduce a little recoil (So that we can target difficult targets and be a sniper) and rework the sight of the new recent skin, or better yet, all sights making them comfortable. This will make the weapons nicer and a little better, it won’t be strong, but I as well as the fans of this weapon will thank you! I hope you will listen to me, I play with this weapon for 1.5 years and I offer the right balanced solution in this situation. Please don’t give up on this weapon, this weapon is like a native son to me!

The draw speed on this weapon needs fixing. It gets players killed constantly, and for no good reason. It also makes reacting to critical targets insanely difficult when they may escape or already engage by the time you can whip your rifle out.

The sights don’t help either, it’s literally got an optics rail, but mandates the use of uninspiring iron sights for a weapon that’s entirely reliant on weak spot hits for major damage.
