Peril management is already very forgiving. Peril / heat management were supposed to represent the risk associated certain high damage weapons, but instead they are all about rewards.

Last time I played psyker in a havoc they told me to swap off bubble to something actually useful
And then the entire mobian 6th regiment clapped
No you are not, then nobody would play the shield. In a game where defense and offense are both important both aid the power level. You are offensively weaker but defensively in other leagues when taking the shield.
The risk of going down is in no way dependent on you. When you are down all the risk is on your teammates.
Power creep comes from changes, stuff that is already there and not used aka less performant cannot add to powercreep.
Common misconception. Taking the ability that can benefit the team does not automatically equal team play. It may benefit the team if there is already underlying team play. The shield is already more powerful than the other abilities even if you only consider yourself. Or else nodes like Born Leader or Shield of Contempt would be similarly discussed.
Yes you are? Both VS and SG boost your damage output, while Shield doesn’t.
Yea, right, people never play bad fun/meme builds here because it’s very serious game and everybody is really serious about it [/sarcasm] People choose skillsets for various reasons in there, some like to be (or more correctly to feel themselves - because we can’t really measure it) useful to the team by placing those shields. Others just like the idea of being protected from range attacks. There is also a separate case of premades where it may be a collective decision that they need to take the Shield. A lot of reasons why to take it even if it’s taken at expense of your damage output. You’ll be surprised but a lot of DT players have no idea how their builds work and which one deals more damage, they just run what seems fun to them in this particular moment.
That said, it still doesn’t make any sense to handicap the only psyker’s Ability that doesn’t improve its damage output like that.
No, it isn’t, necessarily? Changes may lead to more powercreep, may not affect it - or may lead to reduced powercreep. It depends on what was changed.
Yes it can, indirectly? If it makes your play less enjoyable (because you blow yourself up more often), you decide to use some other build based on Ability that prevents such outcome - which most of the times will be one of the DD builds. They could be playing a Shield build instead, decreasing amount of DD builds out there in the wild.
On the other hand, you can’t increase power creep that much by giving a rather weak Peril vent out feature to an Ability that doesn’t enhance psyker’s damage output.
A shield, even placed for Psyker’s own conveniene, still will most of the time be useful to anybody sticking around if they need to utilize it, you don’t need more teamplay than that.
No it isn’t? Or it would be used in most of the builds you see in base game - and it isn’t, it will be SG these days.
There you have the small bit itty bitty change in formulation: power Vs Damage. Well perhaps I should have used a different word, let’s stick with effectiveness. As long as you don’t kiss the floor you are vastly more effective Vs not kissing floor. That is why shield is so prevalent and conceived as powerfull (= effective). If it would allow you to also ride higher perill with less of a risk that would increase its effectiveness to another area. This is a small effectiveness increase, aka powercreep.
And yet you need that somebody hanging around, which means being in coherency. Which is not always given, look at all the loner zealot hate from half a year ago. Which proofs my point that first there must be tam play. You can even team play with a Fury of the faithful and let that ability a team play ability if you know how. It is true that with telekine shield it is easier but it does not magically make you a good team player.
True that.
