Add solo mode already!

I won’t. You don’t even know how to agree with people.

How about you take your time to read what I wrote, and understand it this time?

Player count is dwindled a long time ago and they can’t allow a solo mod because it would steal from the already dead player base and would make overall statistics look even worse.

They can’t allow Naspers/Tencent to know that the game is dead and only a few k turbo nerds play it.

On a related note. Missions are playable solo on the pure unmodded version of the game on xbox (if you have an entire 2nd xbox nearby). I use my wife’s. I am not the best player but any mission up to difficulty 4 is playable solo with the current bots even though they need massive improvement. Ive only managed about 1/4th of missions on 5 solo w/bots tho. Literally just change the party number required…thats the minimum it would take.

-For those asking for the xbox solo method as ive said. It requires 2 xboxes in the same room set up. I only have this because of my wife being a gamer too.

Start the mission in a party of 2 with both your xboxes, have the 2nd leave on the ready up screen and mission is private and solo with bots. Not viable for everyone but people have asked in the past. Also yes as its not a mod it gives 100% full progression and can be done on any platform you happen to have more then one of.

Player count is doing great right now, and solo players would still be counted in that number.

It’s not doing great. At all. Players hosting their own games and not joining others’ would make those other players realize the game is dead. They’d wait bots to be replaced more than usual and that’d break the illusion of playing an active game.

There is a reason why “don’t join on-going games” isn’t an option in the menu. They want forced drop in drop out so the games would be “full”.

Research dark design principles. Solo mod/offline mod would take a single person at most two days to implement. They are strategically held back.

Average player numbers are better lately than they’ve been for the majority of the game’s life.

I rest my case.

Bye, as I won’t waste my time with someone who proves himself wrong with his own link.

I agree that this is a reason for it but I don’t see it as dark design principles. Dark design is about tricking users. Maximising the number of people available to play with seems like improving the play experience.

If you’ve ever played a dying mmo (like the Warhammer one) then you know what a downer that dead game feeling is.

I bolded the important parts. The player count right now, and keep in mind this is only on Steam (one out of four platforms now), is healthier than it’s been for most of the months on that chart.

Game is doing fine, and definitely isn’t dead or dying.

What an arogant fool. Bending facts to your need. Weren’t you the one who started the discussion about game dying? You can obviously see upward trend. Keep in mind those numbers are exclusive to steam. So the fact that Darktide released on PS just recently is not included at all. Not to mention there are all kinds of other variables (e.g. popular game title releases such a SM2) having impact on players retention.

I would say the game is in pretty good shape right now and I hope it will continue to grow.

I will be the devil’s advocate and say all extraction shooters except Helldivers 2

We are so back! Up and onwards!

Tbh if after 2 years you still hadn’t brought the baked potato, I’d probably conclude the potato isn’t coming

My guess is that they planned to include it originally but, 15 pivots later, it just doesn’t really fit in their roadmap any more – and there’s a mod that provides a solo mode (albeit without rewards)

They probably should just come out and say they’re not working on it any more, since they’re almost certainly not

Btw FS if you want to do this the easy way, maybe just make it so the solo mod can still give you rewards

I mean I’m not invested in this conversation but this isn’t an upward trend

I agree it’s trucking aslong like it always has, but I strongly disagree it’s doing better than usual or something. It’s around the usual.

If you really wanted to analyze this then it’s safe to say that the biggest, most lasting player count boost was the class trees. The players want more content. Content, content, content. Nothing else keeps the players invested just like content as is visible on the stats.

The average concurrent player count last month was 7.4k. That’s better than 16/24 months that the game has been out. The cumulative updates, including Unlocked & Loaded and Path To Redemption, are helping retain more players for longer. Last year was rough, and things are definitely looking up.

If player numbers are the end all be all i guess Banana is top 3 games of all time /shrug

Yeah because end of september a relatively big update released. There’s obviously gonna be ups and downs. Speaking of general trend though it hasn’t changed much. The graph really shows it perfectly, there is no need to cherrypick numbers to compare.

Pointing out that the player count the last two months has been (pretty significantly) better than 66% of the other months the game has been out isn’t cherrypicking.

It’s actually the literal definition of cherrypicking because you’re withholding the context of the game having been hovering around those better-than-66%-of-lifetime numbers ever since the class tree update.

Again, this is the full info with context:

The numbers WERE lower pre-class rework, but after class rework they never trended upwards, they remained around the post-class rework numbers, other than a couple updates causing player peaks (and valleys)

For context: the first bump is the class rework, the september hole is the Space Marine 2 release and the peak that follows immediately after is unlocked & loaded, the peak directly beforehand is the update that added the snow map.
