Add hotkeys for actions on the tagging wheel

I sometimes find myself in situations where I want to, e.g., mark a place where another horde comes from, but there are too many enemies in close proximity, and I just don’t have the time to open the tagging wheel. It would be awesome if there was the ability to leave a tag with a single key press.

I would love the ability to bind such tags to my programmable mouse/keyboard instead of using the wheel.

Not to excuse the developers, but there is a mod for this exact function. Lets you bind keys to all of the social/tag wheel functions. Super useful.

Ninja’d!!!

That looks promising. I’ll try it, thank you. That said, the functionality should still be in the base game.

Absolutely.

If you haven’t used mods before, you can also try out this package/compilation I put together:

Tried the pack, but the game now crashes as soon as I load into a mission. Is there a log file or something like that that can help me find out which mod causes the problem?

:frowning: I don’t know!

If you open up the “mod_load_order.txt” file in the mods folder, it lists all the mods that are loaded and their order. you can “comment out” to disable mods by putting two dashes together at the start of a line.

You can try dashing out everything except for the bottom section of supporting mods and load it up and see if the game works correctly. That will indicate that the mod framework files are installed and running correctly. Can then try to enable blocks of mods at a time.

if it’s crashing in the mission, you can try disabling the topmost block of mods (in-game HUD stuff) and also the scoreboard mod and see if it works for you.

EDIT: This is weird and I’d love to figure it out. I made this pack for a group of my friends. A bunch of them used it with no issues, but a couple had similar problems crashing right on loading into a mission. They re-downloaded all the individual mods and installed it all on their own and it worked fine - I have no idea why the pack isn’t working. When you unzip it, you’ve preserved the directory structure of the files?

Yeah, it’s not the first game I modded. I was just too lazy manually selecting all the mods on Nexus (that, and Darktide being unavailable in their Vortex mod manager), so I just decided to try your pack.

After a bit of disabling and re-enabling different mods, I figured out the cause of the problem: it’s the crosshair_hud mod. I reckon it somehow conflicts with the custom_hud mod. Worth mentioning that I’m running the Game Pass version of the game.

On a side note, if I knew that there is no proper crossplay between Steam and Game Pass versions, I would have never leveled 3 chars to level 30 and bought a lot of cosmetic items in the Game Pass version of the game.

Ahhh, good to hear that you sorted it out.

My mod package includes an OLDER version of the crosshair_hud mod because the newer ones got too bloated IMHO with too many features and such that cluttered things up or were a pain to fine tune and simplify. So maybe it’s related to use that or some set of mod options between the two that weren’t comtabilble? Thanks for finding out the source of the issue!

EDIT:

If you think you’re sticking with Darktide in the long haul, it might be worth buying it on Steam when it goes on sale. I think the player base numbers will be healthier on Steam. I don’t think they’ll ever manage cross-play to be honest.
