There needs to be a callout for snipers being on the field. Something along the lines of “In position.” or “Target in my sights” as a callout, similar to Vermintide 2’s Gutter Runner when they say things like “Disappear!” or “Swarm them, yes-yes!”. It would go a long way to alerting the team, instead of just waiting to hear that single audio alert a split second before you’re shot.
I hear call (in game) “sniper” and see laser from sniper. Laser is main way to find him
As Amborjo_7 said, your teammates provide a callout and there is also a visual queue in the form of a laser.
I think the callouts only happen when someone tags the special, which can be hard for the initial sniper interaction.
Yes, there is a callout from the teammates, but there’s no callout from the enemy like there is with other Specials. The Flamer enemies have the Pilot Light ignition sound, the dogs have their howling, Muties have their roaring, etc.etc. Sniper is the only one that doesn’t announce its own presence. And you can say “Well duh, that would give them away!” but when it comes to game balance, it would be better for there to be an announcement of their spawn in.
there is an extremely distinct noise before they fire that everyone can hear. If you hear it and don’t know if it is you or not just dodge.
The big giant red line that goes through everything but cover is not enough for you?
A noise that you hear a split second before firing? Yes, I can hear it, and if I’m in the middle of a fight and don’t notice it, that’s a punishment.
No, because they can be around a corner, or come from behind and get a bead on you and fire a shot before you’re even aware that they’re there. When it comes to gameplay in this style of game, this feels terrible.

In higher difficulties, a missed visual queue while in the middle of a horde for an enemy that can easily remove over half of your health bar can be the difference between mission completion or failure. There needs to be more audio information for the Sniper, as it’s hard enough to distinguish enemies in this game already.
Can you really expect a warning for a sniper? As soon as he comes into view, he shoots. The game would need to predict what direction you were headed and give you a warning before you got there. Right?
There is, however callouts occasionally don’t seem to play. Also there is a sound and a scope glint when a sniper is about to shot at you. If you dodge in that instance you will dodge the shot. The scope glint is also a feature with other enemies with rifles in the game.
Sniper is perfect as is imo
It’s nice that in a one-on-one scenario, or in a large room that it’s “fine”, but please understand where I’m coming from on this.
In Vermintide 2, literally every single enemy variant has a distinct sound queue, call out, or noise. Plague Monks had their shrieking, Berserkers had their yelling, Chaos Warrior and Storm Vermin’s armor had a distinct clanking and they had very unique silhouettes and voice lines. Maulers would call you out, and every special had an audio queue that you could hear from almost anywhere. Heck, even just the Blightstormer whispering in the background with no real direction would be a perfect indicator for the sniper. It won’t tell you WHERE he is, just that he’s somewhere and you should look out for him.
If the laser is on you and you are looking at the sniper, you don’t see a laser. Not sure which is better, not seeing it or being blinded by a laser pointing at you.
The people saying the sniper is perfectly fine makes me wonder what difficulty they’re playing on, because when your team is trying to deal with 2 crushers, a mauler, 3 shotgunners, and a horde, it’s not hard to miss the callout, and is actually nearly impossible to see the laser as you’re ducking and doding all over the place, only to have the sniper shoot through 50 enemies and down your psyker.
Either due to quirks in level geometry or the laser not going through enemies, half the time the laser doesn’t actually appear in time for you to react. Sure, there’s a sound, but when you’re hacking through a horde it’s unreasonable to dodge when when (if) you hear it. That means sometimes you get no real warning unless they happedn to be in your LOS.
I’ve also had cases where Snipers just straight-up ignored my cover - I remember one time I saw a sniper, saw the glint, and instinctively crouched behind some cover I was standing behind well before he took the shot. I couldn’t see the Sniper, but the Sniper decided he could see me, and I got my head blown off - the tracer smoke even went through the box.
I play mostly on 4, and I played a lot… my gear is fully master-crafted and I never felt like I got unfairly shot by a sniper
I also got over 1500h in v2 and Im glad that specials are not as ridiculous obvious to be on the map, while still being noticeable soon enough
Ofc if they shoot thru stuff they shouldn’t it would be good to let the devs know where that is…
