About the new "resource" alert system

First, this data, in my opinion, is useless.
Secondly, it cannot be disabled in the game settings.
Third, these alerts cannot be changed. Size, brightness, location on the screen.
Fourth, they are distracting, and very distracting. When everything is in the dark and then a quarter of the screen pops up this notification of picking up the plastal.
Oh yeah, there’s also that nasty sound.

Bottom line. We need an option in the game settings to disable this feature and/or change it as we see fit.

P.S. Many will say, hey, you have settings. Yes, I do, but I still want to see subtitles and information on killing special units.

Yes it’s astounding how the copied a mod feature and then implemented it infinitely worse. Truly breathtaking incompetence.

  1. Even if its useless, its also harmless, i don’t mind seein this

  2. Yes, thats bad, should be able to turn it off if someone oversensitive.

3 and 4 connected) Yes they made not smart. Too big and in the middle of screen. Should be smaller and in some corner, maybe even in same place where kill feed displayed. Someone killed someone, someone picked up diamantine. Need design rework ASAP.

And i also add, that would be good if you devs add message that someone picked up Book or Grim, not always i notise when 0 - 3 turns into 1 - 3 message will help with that.

What I would like to see is a notification at the top of the screen like when you kill an elite / specialist like in the scoreboard mod. Until now, it was the only reason why I have let this mod (really too many things I don’t like and I wait for an update of it).
I like to see that others are collecting materials.

But I agree the position of the notifications should be moved.

For you, not for me. For me, it’s clogging up the screen with unnecessary information. For I might as well say that the kill table at the end of a match is completely harmless.

If really you can’t live with that:

But these notifications can inform you why someone is behind the group that decided to rush

I will not download modifications. I want to play the game without having to figure out how to download something obscure and try to install it, and then complain why my game crashes, etc. What the hell am I doing playing Skyrim?

I just want the developers to make the game the way it should be. That’s why I made this thread, so that in the next patch the developers will make the necessary changes/fixes/deletions, etc. regarding this feature.

In defense of mods, they are a really very easy to download and install. 15 minutes will have you up to speed and there is really great stuff. Mods have reinvigorated my desire to play the game.

Same thing happened in VT2. They’d eventually get around to implementing some feature that was in a sanctioned mod, except nearly every time they’d get some usage detail wrong and it would be a step back down from the mod.

Same, hotkey, organised map and scoreboard have saved the game for me^^

The blessings of the omnisissah mod is also great. Helps manage your items relative to blessings.

I’m having a blast testing stuff in the test chamber with the creature spawner mod too. That’s a game changer IMHO.

I think they should add an option to resize the notification, turn off the notification and disable the sound of the notification.

I personally would like to resize it smaller and turn off the sound.

This is interesting - for me, the notification is off to the right side of the screen; sometimes I don’t see it, just hear it.

I’m not against a setting, mind you. I think UIs should be configurable as we each have our own biases.

Ever considered that maybe they didn’t copy it over? Because, you know, otherwise it would be just like the mod feature?

They even posted in the mod Discord saying that they’re monitoring the space for things to put in the game. Also VT2’s history shows that they do indeed just import mods with less options and worse UI at times.

So I feel pretty justified in that statement frankly.

I don’t care. You are debunked. Check your privilege. The science has settled.
These baseless and inaccurate accusations of yours are fake news.

.

Quite frankly, it should automatically scale with the UI based on your resolution settings. But a resizable interface would be also nice. Not everyone likes too big or small HUD elements.

Hey, we’ll be looking at implementing a toggle for this option in the interim so you can choose to opt out of the notifications.

We’re also reviewing the HUD in general with how it is working and providing both feedback and information, so if you have any thoughts on what you would like to see on the HUD please let me know!

The fun part is, the mod adding this feature does it better (because not with a HUGE text) and can be turned off.

It is just so strange that after VT1 and VT2 Darktide being so… crude. When I play VT2 it feels more like being the newest release, not Darktide. But well, I am here for 40k content, so it is what it is.

Just to be sure it gets reviewed (or even added):
tl;dr: use all options mods currently provide

Options I currently wish for:

  • health of teammates as a number, right beside the bar
  • toughness of teammates as a number, right beside the bar
  • show ammo of teammates as 000 / 000 (X of max) - no percent “%”
  • number of done / max possible dodges
  • option to disable the “skull” (just the skull) when highlighting targets
  • options to show messages for “interactions” - like collected mats, used med station, … - as short note at the EDGE of the screen (in a fashion like “Player killed XY”)
  • indicator on weapons (in shops and inventory) whether we have the specific blessing or still need to get it
  • option to set the time until the message “Player killed XY” vanishes
