A new case for SP

With the patch 13 delivered I‘d like to argue it’s a good time to remember the promise from launch and start working in earnest on a locally hosted (in the best case even offline) single player component.

I‘ll take the solo mod plus tertium five as a base here.

The old reasons for this remain:

  • exploring the maps at one’s own pace
  • not annoying others while trying stupid stuff
  • not being annoyed by others trying stupid stuff
  • not having to interact with strangers after a stressful day
  • no connection or hitreg issues
  • being able to play what mission under what modifiers you like.

But with patch 13 new reasons appeared for having your spare characters as bots:
The new skill trees have me itching to create a four person squad with inter character synergies! And with the Krieg skins the first time that we could dress them in a immersively fitting manner!

Seriously despite the atrocious pricing policy if I could use my spares as bots I might have gotten the whole range.

So please @FatsharkCatfish remind the team of the promise made on launch.

I’m here for the same reason. I would really like to play on my own because I’m also sick of many players who play only for themselves. they run to the end of the map because they have to show that they are the best. Well then, play alone, I want my bots and be on my own like in Vermintide. There’s only one problem…the bots AI is really mediocre…

Completely agree, there is a huge need for sp.

I usually play with 1-2 buddies so we can just add one bot and take our time and enjoy the map sometimes instead of rushing, but today they are working and I have day off.

I got into a match with 3 grouped people all playing vet named Doran, Vale and Imperius. 2 of them picked up med kits and just carried them entire match. Finally at the last fight area 2 min before opening door to board extraction ship, the team was all half dead I asked them to drop one. In response Doran replies “shut up” and as I board extraction ship they vote kicked me. Only time I have ever been vote kicked in this game and it was for asking guys half dead and carrying a med kit to drop it instead of carrying it to the extraction. Probably these guys just do this all the time to anyone unlucky enough to get stuck with them so if anyone reading this notices they are, just drop game and save yourself some time.

I would play one player down and take 2 bots over those three guys and that experience any day.

I am not sure if there is a way to tell if you are playing with a pre-made group of 3 but if there is, I will just drop from now on when that is the case to avoid people like that abusing the system in the future.

I just played another round of SoloPlay with Tertium5 and that is so much fun - honestly I personally could live with FS just enabling Progression for this!

But how is Fatshark going to goad you into buying those cosmetics, if you won’t show them off to anyone?

I know the question is ironic but I’ll answer it anyway:
The player type I represent never bought cosmetics to “show off” - I couldn’t care less what others think off my attire.
I buy cosmetics because I like to look at them and for the immersion. And for that reason I’d rather buy cosmetics if I can then get my team into a “fitting” look.

To give an example: If I could play SP like with SoloPlay+Tertium 5 but with progression I’d be tempted to get them all into their Krieg skins to roleplay a Death Korps Kill team in Grendyl’s service.

Vermintide 2 allows you to configure every aspect of your bot companions. Weapon loadout, talent settings, accessories, and yes cosmetics as well. I have purchased several cosmetics just to be able to see my bots wear them.

In a sense being able to dress up your bots is a better use of cosmetics than wearing them yourself because you have only limited chances to actually SEE your character outside of static cutscenes and the score screen.

Absolutely - and not only Vermintide 2 has the other playable characters as bots. It’s pretty much industry standard. Basically every Left4Deadeasque game out there does it. I hope DT will join the fray.

Exactly!

100% agree I’ve been Vocal to @fatsharkhedge since beta but as Hedge is now gone I guess @FatsharkCatfish is the new guy to ping.

I want to pick my mission and its modifiers what if i dont want to run an Hi intensity 5? Just a normal 5?
Or if i want to run a Gauntlet run on specialist CDR veteran?
But im tired of the freakin servo skull missions?

Give players agency.

Right now solo play is not a priority as Darktide is a co-op game first and foremost - however we might return to it, so i’ll be sure to forward on your sentiments!

While I find the content of your answer a little disappointing I appreciate you acknowledging the issue and thank you for relaying it to the dev team.

Thanks for the reply feel like its been ages since the Beta where we were told that it would be something in the works or at the very least ability to have mission select like in VT2.

Shame that priorities have shifted as VT2 was a co op game first and foremost but had a great SP option. Or at least private game options. Yes we have private games now but we need to be in a strike team and we get little control over mission parameters.

I hope this sentiment changes but appreciate the fast response nonetheless.

Here have some chum. :fish: :fish: :fish:
