According to Hedge, as far as he knows there isn’t gonna be any more weapons…

He’s currently asking the devs where the missing weapons are, that message is older but I figured i’d make a forum post too.

Before a dev claims there never was such a claim, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - Classes in Darktide - Steam News (steampowered.com)

There were 65 recorded weapons in the Beta, and that is just model wise. Since the full game just came out there are probably more that just haven’t been recorded yet.

what kind of cope is this? the shop has reset for level 30’s multiple times already we would have seen new weapons if they were in the game my guy

It has had a total of 3 refreshes since it went live 3 hours and 4 min ago… so a total of 4 different sets of weapons. I went through a few hours of shop updates and didn’t see a Bolt Gun for a long time during the beta, so I would just be calm. Borderlands boasted about billions of weapons, and that was just due to them having different stats so Darktide could EASILY have boasted about a LOT more than 70-80 weapons. 65 confirmed is WAY more than you would actually need to worry about.

80+ weapons? What do you need 70+ weapons for? We’re working very hard to implement the 50 weapons we’ve promised; please stop complaining. We’ll have all 35 weapons in the game very soon.

There were 81 unique weapons in Vermintide 2, I used every one and really enjoyed the variety.

Oh… sorry, I didn’t realize people who enjoy life and playing games make you ill… sorry, I will start being very pessimistic and more quick to judge things in the future, thank you for the feedback!

Liars who cannot read make me ill buddy but contort it however you would like

@Grum I think each weapon has 3 to 4 marks, each “considered” a different weapon.

So the generic lasgun has 4 different firing rates, each mark is considered a different weapon. I think they are correct that there are 70+ different weapons, just a bit misleading unfortunately to the community.

70/4 = 17.5
70/3 = 23.33

I haven’t looked at each weapon but a safer floor imo is around 17-23 weapons for all the classes.

Pretty sure it’s just a typical “The Developers and the Community count them different” thing.

What the developers count: Every weapon + Every subvariant
What the gamers count: Every weapon

Say for instance, there is four Autogun variants. The dev will count 4, because he initially worked on and tweaked them all. The gamer who expects more, will say “there is 1 weapon, the Autogun(s)”.
Have Marketing spice the messages up and tout them around everywhere and you get this inevitable mismatch of expectation not met + disappointment.

And FYI, except for the Dagger and the Bolter it seems that almost every weapon has at least 2 variants, up to 4. So if you count all of those, they might actually be the promised 80 or so weapons.

I personally am not surprised. I saw this situation coming from a mile away, because it has been like this in every game release since gaming became popular. Not blaming either side here. But whenever a game is marketed, everyone on board the sales team is told to make things as look as good as possible, boost sales numbers as much as possible and the gamers are taking all that literal.
.

Here a short handy guide from a guy who’s been around:
“Up to 10 playable maps” = Exactly 10 playable maps, not a single one more
“Costs less than 70$” = Price is 69,99$, the next closest unit to the “less than” mentioned number
“More than 20 usable items” = 21 usable items, same principle it’s the closest number to “more than”
“There are 80 usable weapons” = 80 usable weapons, all sub-weapon types included (Could be as little 4 weapon types, but with 20 variants each for instance)

You get the gist of it. Yes, it’s not ideal. It happens because Sales teams are always measured by sales or publication clicks alone, not whether the customers were happy afterwards or not. Bad performance means not being re-hired / re-contracted, so all Marketing works with reckless abandon to the detriment of the developer or producer. The solution is to stop getting flabbergasted by PR marketing talk and look at the product as a whole, not more not less. Always assume what you see is what you get, what’s talked about is future music or never coming.

Once you figure this out, you’ll understand older jaded guys who yawn at whatever trailer or interview is released. This might happen to you as early as 25 or as old as 40. But you will get there and you will never be excited about another release of anything, unless it really really tickles your already established interests.

Yep, exactly. You got it right.
