Honestly, most people saying mid nowadays mean bad. But yeah, I still think it’s a good weapon, not a mid weapon. If that really matters at all. Combat Blade and Dueling Sword are way above “good”. I actually made a forum post a while ago complaining about the knife even though I use it all the time.
Most people can be wrong. (as if this forum isn’t enough evidence lol)
Counterpoint: Rofl ComradeHX
Anyway. Technically speaking, however impolitely his posts have been written, ComradeHX is correct. Though I think his language is wrong. The 2H Power Swords are not “mid” they are “good” but the Vet Power Sword and Dueling Sword and Knife are all not just “great” they’re “unhinged”. These new 2H Power weapons have excellent TTK’s and, depending on blessings, can mow down entire groups of otherwise threatening enemies. Being able to strike at groups of ragers and easily stagger them, sometimes from just outside of their own attack radius, is not generally a common thing among many weapons. The weapon doesn’t over-top other weapons so badly that it invalidates them. But from what I’ve seen these are clear winners over most other options in the zealot tree. This is good balance on the whole because the last thing we need is MORE vet power sword and MORE dueling sword. Those cannot be the balance standard as much as some players want them to be. IF all weapons performed like this the game would be very unfun to play.
Crushers against dueling sword or VPS are just big poxwalkers.
Delusional to think anyone’s mastered these weapons in a day, there’s clearly a large move set to experiment with and it can stand on its own in Auric QP topping dps several times.
Active block frames during power up, unique sprint attack interactions, very in-depth attack pattern flow (how you can go between different attack types without breaking combo) to name a few.
I also think there is some bullshitery going on with bulwarks and the uppercut heavy on Mk2, which I wish to explore further.
I’ve played with a two-handed sword and I have to admit, it’s really objectively garbage.
- The attack speed is unreasonably low.
- The energy accumulation rate is quite long, I have very often been in a situation where I have accumulated energy for an enhanced wave, but the enemies have run out.
- You cannot charge the sword to kill enemies more efficiently, because then you will lose some of the energy and waste the wave.
- The sword has a disgusting impact. When I was playing with Illisi, I didn’t get into a situation where an ordinary trash can hit me back.
This sword should get at least an increase in attack speed, and it will still be worse than Illisi.
Relic Blade staggers ragers when powered and only hits 3 by default(2 if unpowered).
That’s not a lot of cleave for a 2h power weapon. The only real cleave blessing(ignoring energyleak because that only starts to make a difference at 4-5 stacks, at which you have very few swings left; we don’t talk about devastating strike) is wrath which is a poor fit for the slower 2h sword. Then again I understand why Savage Sweep isn’t available: one mauler has a real chance of preventing it from activating(default cleave can’t even cleave through mauler+1groaner)
If you don’t want MORE crutchsword/ds then you should ask fatshark to nerf those. I certainly wasn’t asking for more of those, because even if you actually gave zealot 2h sword the dmg/cleave of vet crutchsword, zealot 2h sword still has worse sprint speed. (and despite the fact that it doesn’t turn off when getting hit, heat management still requires you to turn it off/on or suffer through overheat)
Psyker’s is less problematic(it wasn’t reliant on activation to do damage, just turn on scrier’s), the ranged aoe stagger active has its uses and it crits often enough when stacked to be 100% dodging against ranged.
And as always, conflict of interest. If you get to say what I post about these mid weapons then fatshark would likely no longer give you early access. Hence, lol reginald.
you got some delusional excuses there
you can access every move/build and see the dmg they do in training as well as spawn any combination of enemies. (learn to use the mods)
Which means basically nothing. Block isn’t meta(especially on zealot which can get huge bonuses from dodging).
It isn’t meta but it is a mechanic that can be skillfuly utilised and as such is a way of expressing personal skill. A feature of weapon does not have to boil down to “kill fasterer” to add depth.
if you’re holding block you’re not really expressing personal skill
That’s the thing, you’re not holding block because the frames are active during the power-up window. But I reckon someone as knowledgable as you about the game and its mechanics knows that already.
right you’re not holding block you’re just spamming activation button /s
It having no gap in block while activating from block is the only difference(in this part) between it and mk6 crutchsword, which blockcancels automatically into push attack for big dmg.
Did you even use the weapon yet? I’m not talking about the block gap when activating in block - the weapon literally has active block frames when activated from neutral.
yes, I did use the weapon.
That’s irrelevant for many reasons(again, block isn’t meta); if you’re activating the weapon while you’re getting hit by enemy that’s already a big L(though I can see why fs would consider crutchsword balanced if that’s the level of play of typical dt player we’re talking about here).
Sounds like the guard points of the charge blade from Monster Hunter.
You’re making up gameplay situations where utilizing said mechanic is objectively a bad idea.
I never said you should spam activate to fish for blocks in the middle of enemy attacks.
What you can do, however, is power up the attack just before the engagement starts, get a block or two in, and start attacking.
It’s by no means a run-saving mechanic but it works and it feels nice to use - adds some depth.
If you power up the attack before engagement starts, that means you’re not getting hit, hence it doesn’t matter.
You proved my point, good job.
Fyi not all activation has block, that’s probably a bug(might only be intended to be block when activating from block).
That’s usually early part of animation of an attack.
This is just activating the weapon(if the weapon has an attack that activates by default now that would make the weapon less mid).
Do i literally have to spell out every minutiae of my point of view for you to understand it? Are you really that limited in your imagination?
The activation of the power up can help you power through an enemy that has already started attacking, or catch any stray melees in a pack that you might’ve missed with your dodge.
Where did I say “use it when safely away from an enemy which defeats the purpose of using a long range high cleave melee weapon”? You’re so purposefully dense it’s astounding.
