Zealot is now lacking in build diversity

yea… as I have never relied on this and always considered chastity a tool for my melee fight…

Cause revolver and plasma gun are a plague and totally OP in the hands of veteran.
As I said, now, when I see a veteran with such gun, I leave cause the game will be uninteresting.

The new shotgun is more a little kickback.

I have always used boltgun or zorona for this… and this is also the point that made me defend zorona at first. Cause zealot has only 2 (now 3 but the 3rd is not really good) weapons against crushers.
But still I think zorona deserve a nerf. In fact I think both, plasma and zorona deserve a nerf on cleave (someone made a nice proposal on this). But zorona should still remain a good weapon against crushers.
I am a little sceptic about brauto against crusher, but you have more experience than me with this weapon.
What is sure is that I have never relied on chastise the wicked + ranged weapons, so, yes, I don’t even see the nerf.

Not sure what this video is supposed to demonstrate?

is it showing how you’re taking overheads multiple overheads while trying to stagger maulers which both the crusher, thunder hammers and ogryns do better while also doing a better job at killing them in the process.

If you want to pick apart crit evis for being able to spam FotF for toughness regen fine but please don’t try to make it seem like it’s this broken op build doing mega damage and stagger when stuff like (brutal) momentum combat axes and regular momentum evis does a better job at killing without having to gimp your power into focusing on crits.

It shows that this build still works and requires to only press dodge, combat ability and left click to kill a hoard of one of the most dangerous enemies in the game. Also taking several overheads and staying alive is completely balanced on the class with “the worst toughness regeneration” as OP wrote in another thread.

To respond to the OP, I agree that nerfing builds in Darktide currently, is a bad idea. The game is not in a healthy place, in terms of player count and retention. Ideally we should expand on weapons viability, allowing people to use all sorts of builds to keep people interested, since the mission variety sucks butt.

Not Badwin, and nerfing is normal because the game’s balance after Patch 13 is completely broken. The fact that people should handicap themselves and play solo/duo/with grey weapons to make the game challenging is not good.

Do I read it correctly, you are saying that most overtuned weapon for like almost a year, is barely good enough?

Just FYI, before the patch you could one-shot crushers with the devil claw parry. No ult needed. Not sure if that’s changed now (haven’t tested), and I’ll grant you that it’s tricky to pull off in a crowd, but AFAIK the devil claw still has one of the best options vs crushers.

Zarona revolver is op ,thats a fact. Now it will be used even more for reasons I said before.

Boltgun being good comes with downsides ,many people complain about those, one was addressed this patch.

I want other weapons to be stronger ,because I got sick of using the Zarona and the Boltgun is just not fun to play with.

This patch nerfes build diversity for Zealot . Just because you didn’t use X build with charge ability ,doesn’t mean it should disappear completely.

I personally have only used the Flamer with Charge ,when I started playing this game when Arch Sycorax mission was released.
After the Talent tree rework, I have not used it in that way.
My builds with the Flamer is either Martydom Thammer + Flamer (too slow honestly) or Dagger + Flamer. Using the Chorus ability.

And we are talking about Zealot using those weapons ,Veteran using Boltgun > Zealot using Boltgun. By far.

And someone clowning on me for using a build that lets you stay alive while doing mediocre damage … yeah lets get rid of that build. Try tanking Crusher overheads ,it won’t work like that.

The new shotgun being a little kickback is true, but my Kantrael outputs more damage on Unyielding with it . So far I am using the new shotgun on my melee vet ,but it’s effective range is honestly terrible even with 80% roll.

Kantrael shotgun easily trumps that.

Go show some more clips from the Psykanium in your controlled environment ,to me its just far from real gameplay as it gets.

Also we are talking about Zealot here ,why do you say Veteran flashbacks …

People rightfully complained about how terrible the rework for Veteran was, making him absolutely unfun to play.

Do you imply that ,Veteran, the ranged class of this game ,performs worse with Boltgun than Zealot ?

If that’s the case, I just can’t take you seriously at all.

Bolter is far above on Zealot compared to Veteran.

  • Anoited in Blood gives a huge +25% damage boost on close range, and even beyond close range the bonus is lost very slowly. It’s also an absolute 1 point wonder.
  • Throwing knives completely covers the weakness of slow draw time.
  • Dance of Death allows you to be insanely accurate, and it triggers incredibly easily. It’s also “free” since the next node is TWBS one of the most op nodes in the whole game.
  • You can also run IJ for another huge boost of +damage and +AS.

You can have the same damage as an Exa stance Vet with Ult up while being far, far better in melee, survivability, mobility and covering the drawtime weakness.

VoC Vet running Bolter for boss damage is a better against bosses due to Focus Target! + Guaranteed headshots against Spawn and Pogryn, but Zealot isn’t that far off even in these specific scenarios.

well to be fair that instant refund of your ult with one swing on the evis is just as silly as the veterans 6 seconds ult cooldown per kill on specialist.

Yep, I’ve had enough of replying to trollers that admit they troll for fun and people that entertain themselves by derailing the discussion.

I hoped for a good discussion ,but people here are playing VanHammer 30S :Whitetide and I am playing WH40k:Dartkide

Range Veteran class worse than Zealot - I’ve read it all now, thanks.

Anything else you want to add? I just don’t want to make 10 paragraph post about why Veteran is superior in ranged combat compared to Zealot and has comparable survivability.

well you can still use your guns. But realistically using guns is always not the way to play this game 90% of the time it’s melee. Guns are situational. Melee are necessary.

FYI Exa stance Vet on Aurics is close to unplayable.

Heavily relying on stuff that isnt skill is not based.
Thank god for the nerfs.

Nah I see your point but don’t agree
The nerfs was justified just like vet ammo aura nerf.

Chastise should never had worked on ranged.
Insta cdr is just as broken as infinite ammo.

But people always complain when theres a rebalance
You can still hear the echoes of the vet-mains cries when powerswords weren’t just an op-mess anymore and they had to get better at the game or more recently when they could run a whole map whitout picking up a single ammopack.
Flamer nerf was also a blessing in disguise because now you can acctualy see something when playing and not just an orange screen
