Fatshark, I demand my own Tau hovertank immediately
Yes Inquisitors using Xeno tech isn’t new ?
But we’re no Inquisitors.
She’s a radical, a heretic.
No we’re criminals.
Black. Market.
Yeah she is pretty radical
Would 1000% love to try that weapon out in DT.
She can’t be that much of a heretic if the inquisition(!) is letting her work for them.
If they added in a Black market trader that sold this stuff it would imo have to be after they finish adding in imperium weapons and such that are still missing
Well, howllette is a black market trader so we’re already somewhat there. And actually yesterday i heard mommy Hadron reprimanding her for trading with xenos :
- Hadron: Commodore, I should remind you that trade with the xenos is highly restricted.
- Hallowette: Should you? Well off you toddle, duty done.
So fatshark might have some plans for her in the future. But i agree they should only start adding them when we already have a very decent imperial arsenal.
That is not how this works
I suggest reading the Eisenhorn novels
It is also very common among Rogue Traders and their retinue to use xeno-stuff as well, some of them even have xeno merconaries among their entourage.
So: we have the Inquisition and the Rogue Trader to deliver Xeno weaponry.
As long as it helps against the arch enemie, most non-hardcore puritans will have a blind eye on that spot
But there s the distinction of the high ranks vs the low ranks
Like Grendyl (and highly ranked Acolytes and Rogue Trader officers) using a Mirror Sword or a Neutron Blaster
Sure that’s utterly fine, and would work greatly in the lore.
But on the other hand, the Rejects that we play (even at 30, we’re still low Acolytes, not the one that are seen in the books, we’re the ones that surround those, that are thrown first at the enemies in the dark) don’t make much sense with those.
I think one thing worth considering is that IF fatshark does add xeno weapons, it will be far FAR FAR into the future. And who knows what will happen with the story during that time. Maybe we will leave the ranks of “can die and easily enough replaced killteam” by the time they might be added. As we saw with karnak twins, shark does seem to want to somewhat move the story forward.
Maybe the new classes (if there will be any at all) will no longer start as rejects but as sanctioned chess pieces. Grendyl absolutely certainly has the power to do that.
Now this is a great idea. Something like with a 3rd Blessing slot with an unique “tainted” blessing.
if the inquisitor sees fit to equip some troops with xeno gear, he could.
no one around the system would question him, better get results tho as other inquisitors could investigate him and question his loyalty, and then only a sucessful operation would hope to stand any chance of confirming it.
Acolytes that mown down heretics by the thousands, oneshot chaos spawns, kill demonhosts for sport. We have access to high end of imperial weapons. Just 4 of us, can do work of the entire battalion.
Better yet, in latest cutscene, we were standing next to the big guys.
In fairness, aside from Thunderhammers and Eviscerators, just about everything the Rejects have access to is something that could be found in a basic Guard infantry squad (even if not ubiquitously). Bolters, power swords, flamers, plasma guns, etc can all be found in the hands of junior ranks that in the modern military would largely be held by young 20somethings (sergeants, corporals, specialists, etc), and have been options for the most basic of 40k Guard Infantry squads to take in almost every edition of the game. The Rejects aren’t getting Hotshot/Hellgun weapons, Grav cannons, Radium guns, any truly heavy weapons like Autocannons, etc, rather they’re getting the pick of the battlefield salvage. Some of it may be powerful, but it’s all largely standard grunt issue.
from wrath and glory rpg, dark heresy and wrath and glory RPGs we can dip into alien weapons.
We’re an inquisitorial group on a rogue trader ship.
At the end of the day these “exotic” imports on the morningstar can be ignored by grendle as long as they’re being used to blow holes in heretics.
ends justify the means type deal.
the deathwatch RPG, the anti xeno specific group, make use of necron, tau and aeldari weapons.
plenty of lore to support us toying with xenos tech since we’re relativly trusted operatives.
Are we trusted operatives however? The characters start out as prisoners under suspended sentence of death, and at best graduate to being the bottom of the barrel of Grendyl’s private army (which is functionally not too different). At least to this point, the Rejects are never portrayed as elite operatives, they’re disposable muppets that nobody will miss.
We do see Inquisitor’s and their groups use Xenos weapons, but typically they’re Ordo Xenos to begin with doing stuff that involves fighting aliens. The Deathwatch use Xenos weapons, but they’re both Space Marines (fun fact, such weapons at one point were available to Space Marines, like Shuriken Catapults and very old models still have them) and the official Chamber Militant to the Ordo Xenos, giving them carte blanche to do practically anything. Issuing Shuriken weapons to grunts crawling through sewers fighting underhive scum and heretics doesn’t generally appear to be how such weapons are allocated. Likewise, while we see Rogue Trader retinues with Xenos weapons, they’re usually curios or trophies of high ranking individuals.
