Why was weapon lore removed?

As the title says. Before we got the “precise bars” exchanged for a bit less obscure weapon stat display, we had some fluff description on every weapon. Now they’re gone. I just wonder if they were removed because they were not fit with the setting, the game isn’t CoD, it would be too confusing for players, or maybe reading the descriptions made people sinophobic? It’s anybody’s guess, there’s so many valid reasons.

I just wonder why remove all this writing? Is it because the players are overwhelmed with how deep and complicated the main story is?

Agree 100% lore tidbits need to come back.

Yeah it would also be nice if cleave was visible on the subject of those stat bars. But I could use the funny blurbs about my poop shovel back.

I don’t really care for them much, but I wonder what the reason for removing them was. Especially since it has not been mentioned in any patch notes. My guess is they just CBA after putting together a reworked stat system and the expanded damage bar UI, so they decided: “f it, people already don’t care about our non-story, W40K fanboys don’t need the fluff and people who don’t know W40K won’t care/appreciate it, so we might as well remove it and never mention it, ever, because we’re just a tiny indie studio with fresh, upcoming, inexperienced developers who can’t work out basic UI stuff if it’s not related to MTX store and game development is hard”

Honestly I’m not counting for a response, because the only one they could come up with would be squirming and reassessing what’s true. Still wonder if it was just another careless mistake or was there any reason behind it. It may even be that the dev team is completely unaware of it as well - wouldn’t surprise me.

I really miss the fluff, I’m the only person I see still bring up VT1’s lorebook, which was a fantastic system. Jam that lore down my throat.

I get ya. With so little in game lore, even the weapon tidbits are SOMETHING. Yet they got stealth removed.

There was also a subtle change from pre-order beta listing item rarity tiers differently (more lore-oriented naming scheme for rarities compared to the kinda lame descriptors they now use for different tiers). Seems like this was a continuation of that purge to me.

FS is not Actilizzard though. They are a wittle, bwave indie devewopew who dewiwews quality content, greedy fat ̶s̶h̶a̶r̶k̶s̶ cats be damned!

I felt like it was removed to make room for the stats we wanted.

The stats ARE needed. We wanted those for good reason and that is one of our requests they acted on, and for a little while we were really happy about that… and then…

Eh, have enough threads for that. But… I think the answer was to make room, and I think that was a mistake. We want the stats, we really do, but we want the lore too.

Comon Fat Shark, make room for both.

They can always literally make another toggle button for the lore info. Come on man

CoD used flavor text to add depth to their game world. Darktide is not CoD. Darktide is better.

Yeah I get the feeling they left it out when they were rushing in the new Stat UI that people needed to understand their weapons.

If they don’t have the space in the inspect tab to put the flavour text I wouldn’t mind if they put it in somewhere like the cosmetic tab, not a whole lot else going on in that tab anyway and it already has a button to hide the UI and look at the weapon so it wouldn’t get in the way. IIRC some of the cosmetics have flavor text too, so the cosmetic tab would be a good place to consolidate it with the base weapons text attributed to its default cosmetic option.
