Why the general direction of the itemisation system in Darktide is so bad

Spot on on everything. There is no reward in this game. I have 280h in Darktide, I have not yet a single 370+ weapon. I clearn Damnation like it’s V2 Legend.

My wife has 30h. She has 2x 380 weapons that she got from store. Playing mostly 1-3 Difficulty, 4 only with me? Of course I am happy for her but I also feel frustrated by the game.

Basically all she did was get lucky, while I get poop. That’s not how games should work. Fatshark should pull their heads out of their black holes and make HOTFIX adjustments asap.

And the fact that Refine will only allow ONE perk to be rerolled is just kick in the balls by them. What kind of bright lad at Fatshark thought it’s good. Idea. I want to hear their justification behind this idiotic design choices with “crafting” (there is no crafting, you can’t craft anything!).

“Our devlopment management was bad, we failed at most features we planned and we couldn’t deliver. We changed goals and paths of the game project way too many times in middle of development, which left us with pants down close to release. We were also jealous how players could make in few days features via mods we couldn’t make on our own (and so they are not in Darktide). We couldn’t stick with our original ideas as xcel sheets were showing different trends every half an year. We slacked on our job till the very end when we realized deadline is coming. We promised a lot of stuff but we had no idea how do them and it was too late. In the end we decided to make the most grindy RNG system for loot in hope to artifically prolong gameplay of our game becasue we have no content, no endgame, no basic features, no weapon customization, nothing. Our only hope is that this will help us keep as many people as possible log in as long as possible till we will start delivering things we failed to implement using tactic “developer is listening to feedback” to win players back how good we are despite failing at most things. Probably we will rework loot/gear system in future but since for 4 years we had no ideas how, I don’t know how long it will take us to do it. Sadly we can’t use players ideas or admit that we were wrong becasue that’s bad for PR. Regards, Fatshark”

Good one

Hire us armchair designers fatshark hahaha

In all seriousness though, plenty of games have great crafting systems. There is no shame getting… inspiration. Perhaps we players could list them

There is this niche game with good crafting system. Rough around edges but good starting point for Fatshark to improve upon it and do some tweaks to make it better.

It’s very old though, Fatshark devs probably never heard of that game. It’s called Vermintide 2.
