Why not mission selection?

The original justification for not having map/modifier selection from what I remember was because there would be too many different missions being played at once or something and quick play wouldn’t work somehow, but now in havoc mode there is no quick play and we still can’t pick a modifier/mutator/map/difficulty and I’m struggling to think of a single reason why not. I’m already playing in a premade, so literally who is hurt by me picking the maps and difficulty settings I like?

What if someone beats havoc 40 just barely but wants to go back to havoc 30 to play on regularly because that’s where they’re most comfortable? Do they wait 2 and a half months for their rank to decay so they can play? Or do they deliberately lose 30 missions by jumping off a ledge at the start? And what about when get to level 30, win a few in a row, then get their teeth kicked in at level 35? I really can’t imagine fatshark want people throwing themselves off ledges to play at a difficulty they like, but it seems like an inevitable consequence of them sacrificing fun to stop people from getting boosted to high havoc levels for the cosmetics.

Another problem is that havoc has a way of filtering out every type of player:

Low skill players get filtered because they aren’t good enough

Players using the party finder get filtered because pubbing havoc is apparently even more miserable than auric

Players in a premade get filtered because, once you get the havoc penances, why bother continuing to put up with the complete lack of player freedom in what mission you play when you could do auric maelstrom (even if it’s significantly easier) and get some choice by playing on expired map IDs?

All of this could be solved by letting people pick the havoc level they play at, what map they run, and pick what modifiers and mutators they play with (for example I never want to play with vision obscuring modifiers under any circumstances).

Very strange but honestly completely expected oversight by Fatshark that I don’t really think will be fixed but wanted to rant about anyway.

Also vent purge on the new map breaks the intro cutscene because you can’t see the ritual that’s supposed to be in the sky because of all the smog

This is what I ask

Party finder should allow you to choose:

  • the mission
  • the difficulty
  • the modifiers

There is no reason to not implement this

At least party finder would be somewhat useful…
