First of all, let me make it clear: this post isn’t a complaint about any specific class being overpowered, nor is it a call for Fatshark to nerf or buff anything. I’m simply curious why some people still consider the Ogryn weak. Point-Blank Barrage (PBB) is probably the most talked-about build right now. Ever since its cooldown was reduced by 20 seconds, its performance has been remarkably solid. When paired with explosive weaponry, its damage output and efficiency are unmatched by Psyker or any other class. It’s accessible, deals massive damage, provides hard crowd control against elites, and remains exceptionally consistent under high-pressure scenarios—two major strengths Psyker simply doesn’t share. Yes, it relies on ammo, which becomes noticeable in Havoc, but the game isn’t just Havoc. In my eyes, it stands as the easiest yet most powerful build in the entire game right now, and I’ll explain my reasoning below. As for Taunt, you certainly can’t call it weak, but it does demand skill and team coordination. In the high-pressure environment of Havoc, a single ability can pull an immense amount of aggro, creating plenty of breathing room for your teammates to pick off melee elites. It can even break the pathfinding of specialists like Flamers and Snipers, leaving them kicking around in place. If your teammates don’t know what they’re doing, Taunt can feel a bit lackluster; if you don’t know how to use it yourself, it just accelerates your own demise. - I’m a player from Asia, so the data points below come directly from Bilibili. As of writing this (around 9 PM EDT on the 13th), following the patch on the 29th, there are already 33 duo H40 clear videos on Bilibili alone. Out of those 33 runs, 26 feature an Ogryn—including the very first duo H40 clear on the new map uploaded on 10/01. The facts speak for themselves: whether running Taunt or PBB, Ogryn has an incredibly high skill ceiling. If you want to verify this, you can search Bilibili directly for “双通浩劫” and filter by the latest uploads. - Returning to why PBB is arguably the most accessible top-tier build right now: its flaws are obvious. The Ogryn has a massive hitbox compared to the other classes, lower mobility, and consumes finite ammo drops scattered around the map. What does it get in return? Provided you have ammo, explosive weapons offer wave-clear superior to that of a Psyker. Whether dealing with standard poxwalkers or high-threat melee elites, sticky grenades reliably delete distant Reapers, and the AoE radius is more than enough to clear Gunner lines. On top of that, an Ogryn’s resilience and margin for error blow Psyker out of the water. Take an H40 Crusher overhead with corruption: a full-health Psyker or Veteran takes a hit and dies outright, while an Ogryn merely loses a chunk of health. In practical play, the Ogryn isn’t a silver bullet for everything—facing Captains or the Twins can feel quite awkward. But this is a team game. In a duo setup, your partner can cover those blind spots, let alone in standard four-player squads. One final thought: I genuinely don’t understand players who judge whether a class is OP purely by scoreboard damage. Assessing balance requires a holistic view—taking into account ammo dependency, survivability, and margin for error. If a fragile, low-forgiveness class requires the team to carve out safe space just to match the damage output of a tanky, high-forgiveness class, is that truly balanced?

[image] DiaoYu: Of course, I don’t blame people who like to play “cheating classes” to avoid the challenges the game is supposed to offer, after all, it’s just a game. not my fault the funnest class gets buffed out the ass to accomodate for bad players. then again every other class got that treatment too

[image] DiaoYu: while the vast majority of people on the forums remain obliviou you linked a thread by one guy who immediately got “no, are you high?” replies en masse

[image] eatingsand: not my fault Hey buddy, as long as you’re not the type who brags about your “skills” while refusing to admit that the class you’re using is way too powerful, this isn’t directed at you.

[image] DiaoYu: that the class you’re using is way too powerful, that’s every class just to be fair, don’t have to single any of them out game is too easy right now and requires very little skill

[image] eatingsand: “no, are you high?” As well as an equally large number of replies and “likes” expressing their surprise that the Ogryn actually underperformed compared to the Arbites this past January I just picked a random post, do you want more evidence? I don’t mind.

[image] eatingsand: that’s every class You have your own opinion. I’d prefer to see Fatshark continue to nerf those “overpowered” classes and leave the Ogryn as is. As I said before. [image]Glad Ogryn got the buff he needed Can’t wait to see what other buffs Ogryn will get next. I’ll happily keep abusing his power

are you saying you counted it? what’s the totals then?

[image] eatingsand: what’s the totals then? [image]It's extremely underwhelming trying to play Ogryn after playing the Arbitrator Why the hell even play Ogryn at this point? [image]It's extremely underwhelming trying to play Ogryn after playing the Arbitrator If they want the Ogryn to at least make use of his already limited weapons we need decent weapons buffs nothing crazy like Ogryn 2.0 but something at least. Including the Ogryn gentleman who just appeared [image] DiaoYu: btw look what i found [image]It's extremely underwhelming trying to play Ogryn after playing the Arbitrator pbb is super powerful but the cooldown is to long and ogryn doesn’t really have enough ammo for sacrificing melee to be worth it. Now PBB is turning into exactly what he wants it to be  [image]It's extremely underwhelming trying to play Ogryn after playing the Arbitrator Many ogryn’s weapons feel so much slow and unpleasant to use, so unfair comparing to the actual impact they have. [image]It's extremely underwhelming trying to play Ogryn after playing the Arbitrator TL;DR: Ogryn is the only class that comes with a unique, fundamental and extremely relevant drawback. There must be bespoke advantages as tradeoff for that drawback, otherwise he will always just feel worse in comparison, even if he’s mathematically sound. I’m too lazy to keep looking. Once you rule out the ppl who replied multiple times, the answer is obvious

[image] eatingsand: it’s really funny As I said, this is just a post I happened to come across, because even @Durandal94 is included in the examples I’m giving , that’s why I made a point of replying to his post Of course, if you think his personal opinion doesn’t represent the majority of the forum, I absolutely agree, I’m sure I can come up with some better examples btw, I think I’ve given enough examples to prove just how many people have absolutely no opinion on how powerful Ogryn is. Can you accept that fact?

Lol you clipped out the part where I said the damage should be reduced and that I wanted a full rework of it

Why do people think Ogryn is weak?
