I don’t think they care what type of slur it is. They just don’t want to have the discourse poisoned or heated up too much. I think it’s okay of them to have this expectation, even though this also can lead to emotional people being penalized.
Just earlier I got a temporary time-out from the Discord, but I see why they do it. Some topics just aren’t good discussion material, either. For instance politics or religion.
In a further sense also economics, because you can’t discuss them properly without delving into the others I mentioned eventually.
And it’s not like these discussion change matters. You will probably never convince someone online of your train of thought, neither will they change yours.
And a similiar thing goes for the slurs. It doesn’t make the best impression. Although I will agree, it helps getting steam off and vent. But this isn’t the place for that. That’s what Fatshark doesn’t want.
I don’t think you will get a reply to this thread, but if you do it will be some abbreviated explanation of what I just typed. “The Forum rules have their reason and we have made the experience that it’s best for everyone”.
Something like that I see the response being.
Don’t take it personal. It’s just formality to have clean discourse. And as much as I’m a free speech guy, seeing discussions in this forum I must say - Their guidelines do help.
Again, cross-reference Steam Forums or 4chan or even Reddit. All of those are toxic in one way or another and allow members to gang up on each other or have discussions that spiral out of control. So there is a legitimate case here that these guidelines do help keep the place civil.
… my dude… do you not understand the concept that a swear, a curse, a cuss word, and a slur are all VERY different types of ‘foul laungage’? like are you srly that much of a fckin choir boy or gal that you srly cant grasp that the word fck IS NOT in the same category as calling someone some form of racial slur? like srly racial slurs are bad and i am totally for that getting censored since thats the sht that goes to far but srly especially basic sht LIKE sh*t isnt even close to being bad at all at this point in time…
I believe that without swears the forums seems more nice than it would be without, I like it.
And, while I understand that swear words are the part of language and helps bring an edge to your expression or point, but it doesn’t limit you as much as forbidding the sentence or topic, and the forbidding of swears makes it harder only to express an extreme emotion, it does not hurt an ability to make a point.
In the end of the day, it mostly comes down to Fatshark’s belief on swearing, and in this situation I agree with them, after all, this place in not social media where we express ourselves, it is a forum where we exchange our ideas and views.
honestly i wouldnt have even made a post however much it would still annoy me if they just added basic a*s profanity filters that auto censor whatever they want it too for them with rules in the tos to simply not do something like this ‘S h i t’
I do and I already responded to that. I don’t think they care what type of slur or cussword or whatever else you come up with. They don’t want it, period. Calling me a choir boy (while creative) won’t change that.
I don’t get why you specifically bring up racial slurs and then try to separate that from the other stuff. That tells a lot about your own biases, but doesn’t change that it’s just another sub-category of swearing language. shrug
If I type any variation of “You’re a karkin Karker” (fill up with whatever you like from any category) and it’s clearly directed at you in anger, it’s not wanted here. I don’t see the issue.
Besides, let’s be real. Swearing is usually used as a crutch anyway. Once people do it, they fill up their post with as much of it as possible. That isn’t cultured. That’s just overdone. Like that comedian Bill Burr, who thinks he is a great jester but half his skits are overacting some speech pattern and it’s really, really dull.
It’s not really exquisite or necessary.
Ideas about Tide games generally. Talking about game mechanics, code and design decisions is already finnicky enough without all the vitriol the internet usually brings forth. It would only be more chaotic with it.
But they do have a profanity filter. Just it blocks you from sending that message and asks you to rephrase. >:D
dude at least this time you differentiated to at least slur AND cuss word but my dude again to act like they are even remotely in the same league shows you having literally probably 2 brain cells to rub together especially since you also missed the part where i said the profanity filter should AUTO FCKING CENSOR ANYTHING THE FORUM MANAGERS DONT WANT SAID LIKE LITERALLY EVERY OTHER PROFANITY FILTER… i mean even eso’s profanity filter auto censors and that game came out in 2014 and hell, while i do agree slurs (insults based on peoples races since you dont seem to understand the difference between slurs and swears) should be 100% guaranteed censored but swears should be a part of a profanity filter option that lets those who make accounts turn on or off the profanity filter that blocks people using swears so that way if you really get your feelings hurt by say for example someone calling you a fcking idiot instead of a idiot than you can turn off the ability to see the f*cking part…
