Why are names not unique? I'm shocked!

By my own admission, I tried to bang in a witty name… The name filter kept moaning at me so I abandoned the “im amazing” stuff and decided to just click random for 10 - 20 secs…

The name Saldar popped into the box and away I went into my first game. It was about 5 levels later I was looking at some good names and thinking I could have done so much better if I wasnt in such a rush…

OK, long crap story short… I’m level 16 and I’m on the drop ship and bugger me, opposite my seat is another Saldar. How the hell an someone else be called Saldar? What actually is the name check for?

Please give me the option to change my name at the NPC that does all the char creation… I would even pay £5 for a name change token… I just dont care now I’ve run a mission with someone with the same fekkin name !!

This is just speculation, but I’m pretty sure it has to do with our Steam account names. We already have unique steam names that bound to us, so it gives us more freedom for our character to be named what we want. I like it. Be more creative next time.

How would it make unique names if it had a randomize option?

My Psyker is called Harken, pretty common name in Darktide :rofl:every few games I meet another Harken haha.

No, my main point was I’d a like name change function, and yes it’s all my fault :slight_smile:

The randomized names simply come from a pool of premade names. So if you want a unique name you have to come up with one yourself.
