What the ...?

So I decided to play some Havoc today, created a lobby, the team filled up, I clicked play — but on the screen right before the mission, I took a closer look at my teammates, those “heroes,” and realized it was all going to end in the first or second room. I didn’t confirm the mission launch — I just left. Bam — my attempt got burned. Is that how it’s supposed to be? The mission hadn’t even started yet!

If you didn’t cancel they could have accepted it were you in the ready up screen, did you propose the mission?

deserved, frankly, for not even giving them a chance

Yes, I proposed the mission myself, and then I myself, after taking a closer look at the team (I have a mod that lets me see the talent tree on the ready screen), decided not to start this mission. I’d actually already burned through two attempts — I don’t know, maybe five minutes total spent on them

This is far too philosophical a question that FS probably couldn’t answer it themselves, as with most things in the game (or not in the game) at this point.

But, yes, that is how it works. Not a bug, you should have selected better in the party finder.

probably they managed to win the havoc mission in trio without him
so they ranked up, meanwhile he got an attempt wasted

which is very possible

They could have accepted the mission after you left and played it (inevitably failing).

If they all accepted the mission it counts as started. Doesn’t matter if you haven’t started the load into the pre-mission lobby.

As of the latest patch (and probably a few before) there seems to be a large delay between the team accepting to start the match and the server telling the team it has started matchmaking/loading the pre-mission lobby.

Judging by the fact that within a couple of minutes I was playing my second attempt, they didn’t start either, which is quite sensible

Frustrating. I thought the final confirmation was when everyone ticks their checkboxes within a minute before the mission, and until that point you could safely leave

There didn’t used to be a delay, or the delay was so small that it didn’t matter, between accepting and the server starteing the lobby load up.

After that incident and two more attempts lost within the first few minutes, I was knocked back down to assignment rank 29. I created a lobby, and three absolute badasses joined — genuinely badass. One of them had assignment rank 30, so we skipped my rank 29 mission and completed the rank 30 and 31 missions instead. In the first mission, nobody was even knocked down; in the second, three knockdowns across the team, but no deaths. If only I could get teammates like that every time. I suppose the main secret to success is a seasoned Ogryn taunter on the team

I’m not sure what exactly everything is called, but basically I made the decision not to start the game on a screen roughly like this one — and not at the last second, but about 30 seconds before the mission would have started automatically

Havoc counts as started when you load into that lobby screen unlike misson board games.

That’s a bit unfair to say imo. We don’t know what they brought to the mission. I’ve seen people trying to bring blue weapons on power lvl 300 in H40 missions combined with odd builds. At some point it’s not him at fault for dodging the lobby.

I simply had no idea that declining to start the mission would be counted as a loss. Looks like today I ended up on three players’ block lists

ah heresy difficulty
