What new weapons would you want to see added?

Well, i mention them because of their presence on the tabletop. Most video game versions of the melta-guns are just big ass energy shotguns with a slow fire rate. It would function in dark tide similar to the ogryns kickback shotgun, just a big single shot “F-U and everyone around you.” But for human sized rejects obviously.

Alternatively, if we are to go off of how they are portrayed in lore, it would basically just act like a spartan laser. HUGE damage, MAJOR armor penetration and piercing of multiple enemies, but cumbersome to wield with a slow rate of fire. But mainly i want it because i like my lasers EXTRA THICK.

Just to clarify, these are daramined variants, the Heavy/Light variant of the Bolter aren’t Heavy Bolter and Boltpistol ( what would be a light boltgun.)

It’s currently unknown if a Heavy Bolter is being prepared.

Yes, you’re right. But when you read the description, it doesn’t look that you can use it as a normal human in a “portative” version.
On wiki fandom they say:
« When used by guardsmen, a Heavy Bolter is normally mounted on a stabilising tripod and fitted with a small defensive physical shield, granting the operators some protection from return fire. Both troopers collaborate to move the weapon and its munitions to new firing positions, and are trained to set it up and begin combat operations in a matter of seconds.

Alternatively, unusually strong guardsmen like Sergeant “Stonetooth” Harker dispense with the tripod and shield, and operate the weapon standing whilst their teammate carries the weapon’s ammunition. »

But you’re right, I have read too fast.

Fingers crossed :stuck_out_tongue: knowing that most non-ogryns seem to be able to get auto/lasguns, pistols and such. As with knowing up to recently, very few weapons being available to Psykers and those that are class exclusive (since Psyker doesn’t get Boltgun or Plasmagun, and Voidstrike Staff acts like something between Boltgun and Plasmagun)

I’ve just added these to the Darktide Weapon Wishlist. Great ideas!

I thought Hunting Lances were disposable weapons. Power Spears would be more suitable for Darktide in my opinion.

Discardable charges.

Power Spear I’m less interested in

From the Warhammer 40K Wiki:

“This weapon is constructed of a hollow, lightweight metal shaft tipped with a spear point, which is also connected to the impact fuse of the weapon’s shaped charge. This small explosive charge is constructed to direct the blast and fragmentation effect towards the target and away from the user. Once detonated, the user is left with only the shaft, which is then discarded.”

From what I’ve read it sounds like the whole thing’s useless after its charge detonates… and a variant without the charges would just be a regular Spear.

That’s the one they use in the TT/cavalry. Rpg (Only War iirc) introduced them as infantry weapon with discardable charges

I could get behind that. I’ll add Hunting Lances to the Wishlist too.

Space Marine 1 and 2 has Meltas as a close-range hard hitting weapon that damages enemies in a cone and nobody had any issues with it. Stop making up problems, please.

Any kind of pistol/sword dual wield. This is an “I NEED IT” for me.

well the thing is they are as good as the implementation. right now the pick axe is so damn well made im struggling to play anything else. and i dont think i ever said hmm i need a pickaxe in game before i picked one up.

But i would love to see all flame weapons removed ! or at least an option to tone down the blinding affect. right now if im in a group with a spooge staff i just have to leave.

I mean, if we take a weapon and make it operate totally differently from how the universe portrays it, for use against targets it’s not intended for, you can make anything work.

Within the context of how tabletop 40k portrays these weapons and how Darktide has translated those weapons into an FPS experience thus far however (e.g. not typically radically changing how they operate like turning weapons that are supposed to focus power into a penetrating heat lance into adopting a flamer cone template), I don’t think it’s “making up a problem” to point out that there’s some design space issues with certain weapons.

That sort of thing is how we ended up with the current stub revolver>bolt pistol paradigm we’ve got now.

The super-penetrating laser would be cool, the issue there is that the Melta is also famously super-short ranged. Though if implemented well that could potentially work.

Yes to this too!

With citations from Meltagun | Warhammer 40k Wiki | Fandom

"Melta weapons work like a heat gun on steroids, using “specialized gases melded and ignited into a sub-molecular thermal state”;
“inducing a minute, sub-molecular reaction within a highly-pressurised pyrum-petrol fuel mix located within an ammunition canister, and then projecting the resulting plasma through the canister and from the weapon’s barrel as a blast of incredible heat”

“Functionally, the Meltagun has more in common with a Plasma Gun than a Flamer”

So in essence, where a Plasma Gun shoots a ball or bolt of plasma with nearly infinite cleave, a Melta Gun emits a beam as we know with a distance falloff at over 12 meters away. Any single rarget closest to its line of fire is more likely to be melted into slag. A cone effect seems good, yet it is more of a beam I think.

Anything that is two handed and chain for ogryn the big man is not complete without a set of two handed. I really just want to see a two handed chain axe for him and a cannon that is just ripped from the ground.
