The power level of bots is now the same as the host’s current power level
- Vermintide 2 - Closed Beta - Patch Notes, Feb. 2018
If the user who posted this in the Vermintide 2 Steam forums is correct in their analysis of the game code, then the above statements by Fatshark are no longer true, both in Campaign mode and in Chaos Wastes mode:
[…]
Bot Power level scaling from the host was widely accepted, so it’s a valid question to ask whether this was always misinformation, or if it was changed “recently.”Patch 4.4.2 (Oct 28, 2021) changed to the current logic listed by Vernon.
If we take a look at what the logic used to be:[…]
Since we never had dedicated servers, the logic falls into the else condition.
In this case, it looks like the profile and career_name are being overridden to the hosts player character. So when the call to get the power level from the backend is made, it should calculate the same as host power level. The new logic does not have this override. So honestly, this look as much like an unintentional / unlisted change than anything, Old posts mentioning bot hero power scaling were probably correct, but I’m fairly certain this “change” wasn’t listed in patch notes, so no one knew about it?
The user mentions that Fatshark changed the power level of bots so that it is no longer the same as the host’s current power level back in The Grudge Marks Update, Patch 4.4.2, Oct. 2021. What power level do bots now have if they don’t have the power level of the host?
